Hey everyone, Just thought I'd give you all a heads up concerning the ROPS on my 4310. The other day I took off the BH and FEL to mow the lawn. I then left the tractor idling while I folded the ROPS. Being new the pins are still kind of tight so I use a hammer and drift punch to remove them. Here's the (not so) funny part- the hinges are starting to loosen up from being folded, but I was really surprised when it dropped down easily, but if it goes past the point where the pins are supposed to be put in to lock it in the down position, the ROPS just barely catches the outer sleeve of the female Power Beyond fitting. This normally wouldn't be much of a problem, but if the tractor is running and the sleeve gets pushed back the pressure will blow the male fitting out of the female fitting!!!! Of course the hydro pump immediately starts to make a very unhappy sound!?!?! I checked with the mechanics at my dealer, and he said it has happened to him several times. Mike.

Man, what are the odds? An eighth of an inch one way or the other and it wouldn't happen. ....

Mike - being that you have a hilly property wouldnt it be advantagious of you to leave the BH on for added stabilty & traction? ....

Grasgod, Yes the terrain is some hills in certain sections, but the rest is sloping and level. The problem is that with a lot of trees the BH would just be impossible to maneuver. Also I would have to ballast the front with either weights or the FEL, and I believe the less weight on the lawn the better. Besides, I can mow a little faster with nothing in from or behind. Also removing the FEL and BH is about as close to effortless as can be!!
Maybe I should change my profile- one man's hilly is another man's flatland!!!
