Recommendation for an engine block heater

My CC7265 starts like a champ down to about 15 deg F. Between about 0 and 15 she fusses and below 0 she's downright stubborn. I've seen magnetic block heaters but someone mentioned they preferred a hose mounted one. Anyone have any experience with one or can recommend options? Thanks.

I totally recommend the in block heaters. That is where you need the heat is in the engine and the difference is nite and day! ....

Thanks guys. I read your related thread, Chief, after I posted. It sounds like perhaps you got yours mail order? I'm wondering if you can provide a source? When I Googled up block heater, all I got was the magnetic types. Maybe I'm not using the right terms.

Plenty of ice today in western PA. A good day to stay in, surf or go catalog shopping.

I need to get a block heater for my 7205. She won't start in anything below 0 degrees and even if it did I hate to run it when the oil is like sludge.

Just called the local cub cadet dealer and an OEM heater is $174.19!!! I couldn't believe it. It does actually thread into a factory hole in the block. I can't find a frost plug that I can remove and put a generic block heater in. Does anyone have any ideas? A magnetic one would be doable if I can find one with some decent output, the one NAPA has for $40 is only 200W. The factory heater in my diesel truck is 1,000W. Any suggestions for rigging in a block heater is appreciated, especially if you did it for under $174!

dutchk, I ordered my block heater from the John Deere dealer. I would recommend that you contact your dealer and see what block heater is specified. My guess would be that their is either a threaded drain plug you would put the block heater in or a knock out type freeze plug that you would remove and install a threaded adaptor in place to install the block heater. You dealer should have the specific info. ....
