Does any body have any info on how well those flex drag harrow's work. Iv'e been using a old chain link gate to drag seed beds but I pretty much distroyed it last weekend. I'm looking into getting something new and was wondering if they are worth the money they bring (not cheap). From my understanding they can be used in many way's buy turning over or something.

Plots, drag or chain harrows do a good job on seedbed prep. and finishing, however, thay also have draw-backs. Foremost of these is, as you mentioned, cost. They are not a particularly hard thing to make, but just like with counter-weights, do tend to demand a pretty high price relative to their design, construction, and function.
They are though, like weights, easily replaced with a lower cost alternative. Chain link fencing works well, so does an old steel bed spring.
The construction of drag harrows is such that they have 'spikes' sticking out on one side and you can drag them spikes up or down, depending on whether you want to break up the surface, or just cover over seeds.

I have one you can drag forward or backward to dethatch or level. Depends on the degree of break up you need or flip to run tineless for seeding. I run it be hind the seeder as I spread seed as is requires little energy to pull.

We sell a dozen or so a year and they do work well for most all things on the garden as well as horse arenas and trails as well as lawns. There are several companies that make them but there seems to be little differnce in them for the companies I'm aware of. ....

You need them made from fairly hard spring steel. My dealer had sold some that were soft steel and regretted it. I can drag mine down a paved road with no damage to the tines. ....
