I have a TC-24DH with a 914A MMM the bolt holes that hold the deck mount bracket to the tractor have become stripped .Can I just put Helicoils in theme or is there some other way to address this problem.

Kevin,

If your casting is like most I would think you are find to use the helicoil. I have see them use to hold grade eight bolts.

If I had any questions I would talk with shop person at New Holland.

Actually if I were you I would drill out the 12mm holes and retap them at 5/8" or 16mm since you are going to have to drill and tap for the Helli Coil any way. Then simply enlarge the holes in the mount to fit as well. Be sure to use a bottom tap and do not drill too deep that you breach the casting. ....

You are correct if you have to drill use a bigger bolt. Question: What if he drilled through and put a lock nut on the back? just an idea in case he went through. ....

If he drilled though he would lose about 10 gallons of hyd oil. ....

Does anyone know how thick the casting is .I don't want to drill through,thats what I was afraid of in the first place.Does any one else have this problem? Thanks for the advice so far!

All you have to do is drill until you feel the resistance increase then you know you have reached the bottom of the hole. To drill the threads out you real should have very little resistance so you will definitely be able to tell when you bottom out. The whole time I worked at the dealership I have never seen the bolts come loose for the mid mount mower bracket. They are supposed to have special serrated lock washers. If they failed to install them or installed regular locks then I could see them coming loose. When you reinstall new bolt get some red lock tight with them. ....
