Hey, that looks like a nice professional job! Does it block the light much at night? I'm curious though - doesn't the Kubota come with a grill guard as part of the loader package? Or did you just want a beefier guard?

Bad camera angle, but lights are not blocked at all. I didn't care much if the lights were even a little bit blocked since the lights are worthless with the loader raised anyway because the loader bucket blocks the light path. My next project is welding up square "armored boxes" for some trapazoid flood lights and mount them under the square tubes that extend out and holds the tractor's roof. Then the lights will not be blocked when you are using the loader becuase you have the lights mounted high and looking down. Same way I'm going to do it for the rear lights mounted on the ROPS bar looking down and in front of the backhoe. All with 1/4 thick steel boxes protecting the lights from being ripped off by tree limbs.
Don't know if a Kubota front end Loader comes with a grill guard or not. My loader is a Woods 1006, so my tractor didn't have a grill guard at all. I was lifting a 84 inch finish mower off a pick-up truck and the mower swung under the bucket and darn near crunched the front grill and headlights. SO, I said time for a grill guard. I looked around and this is what me, the chop saw, and the welder came up with.
Plots...In pix 14 there is a pix of my 7014 stick weld. Noticed I used just enough heat to see a slight undercut in the front. ....

Ya that looks pretty slick, watch out for to much undercut though that would fail you in a certification test. Isn't it nice saving bucks welding up you own goodies. NICE WORK. ....

jeffr I have several dings in the paint on my JD grill. If you use it (the bucket) you will ding it.
I put in a picture, #4, of my light system for working in the wee hours usually moving snow. Very little summer nights. However I did some work over at boys house 4 miles so I road it, the lights are VERY visiable.
It is wired into the JD harness with 2 toggle switches, center, to control either set.
PS don't worry about your undercut. It has already exceeded my warranty for work on stuff. "Ten feet or ten minutes". Which ever comes first.

Harvey,
Nice work on the lights, your ROPS bar provides the protection for the lights. I like it alot. Better to have some dings on the grill guard than to have broken headlights or a crunched hood.

Kubota's do have grille gaurds available for there loaders. We order all of them in with them to help protect the new owners investment. For the believe it or not column we have people that think they can get away saving a few dollars and buy them without! ....
