Hello to all fellow JD owners. I am a proud owner of a 2004 JD4210 E-Hydro with a Curtis Cab, heater, wiper, lights etc. and a 59" JD front blower (and loader). Primary use is snow removal in Upper Michigan (where the snow gets deep and the air gets cold). My unit, purchased new, has just under 70 hours on it and I as much as I have enjoyed the unit, I have a few issues I'm seeking input on.
Brief history, the tractor was purchased to replace my Boss V-plow for winter snow removal (blower) in addition to future landscaping on yet to be purchased land. Purchase requirements included the smallest tractor available to mount the most required implements including loader, blower, (future) post hole digger and backhoe, while still being small enough to fit inside of my current garage. The 4210 was the winner and I have been very happy with the purchase.
The Problems (all dealer installed):
* Curtis Hard Side Cab is not airtight, seals came
loose, doors required adjustment.
* Heater does not perform adequately (compared to my
pickup truck). All windows ice over (with the factory
installed fan running)though the front windows is
eventually defrosted for adequate use. The temp
indicator never gets to the mid-point, barely gets
out of the red - again typical use -10 to 30 degrees
throughout winter.
* Tonight, for the first time, 4wd did not function,
although the light indicator was on, 4wd did not
engage and I spent an hour working out of a very
tight spot (was 1 degree below zero out).
Anybody else familiar with these issues, specifically heater output and 4wd? Although dealer has been very
responsive am frustrated with these two issues - again with just under 70 hours.
Thanks in advance. I greatly appreciate any input.

It doesn't get that cold here, but I'd think you could increase the temperature by covering a good portion of the radiator to reduce airflow like they do on big trucks. The 4WD is electrically activated so maybe a connection came loose. Have you been under the tractor to look for loose or disconnected wires? Sometimes a wire isn't tied up properly and gets caught on brush or debris. ....

I forgot to ask, did you look at the diagnostic light on the right fender to see if it's flashing a code? That might help with the 4WD problem. ....

Thanks for info. I did recently put cardboard to cover the entire grill on the front side - no difference. Re: the light indicator, no code provided. I did shut down and restart looking for the feedback. Nothing out of the ordinary. i will pursue the electronic wiring however. I've put it in the heated garage tonight to thaw it out for further assessmet tomorrow. ....

On the heat issue you may have more radiators than the engine needs at that temp.
Block your front radiator completely, remove your coolant cap, turn you heater valves off, have a good therometer, and measure temp that the thermostat opens.
If you are running your tractor during these temps you might get away with bumping up your thermostat or keeping the radiator blocked and your small heater radiators will do the job for you.
Also check your valving to the aux heaters just because the valve looks open or acts open does not mean there might be an obstruction or a pinch in the line some where.
Blocking the radiators is no longer needed nor should they be used on newer trucks. Newer equipment has thermostats, clutches on fans and most important after coolers that HAVE TO HAVE AIR to keep them cool. ....

FYI to all, spoke to my dealer on Saturday and he said the cold weather was suspect as there is a solenoid that caused MFWD to engage. Possibly iced up. Thawed it out for the day in the heated garage and reevaluated this morning. All is back up and operational! Engaged and disengaged multiple times with no issues. (left in MFWD for the next storm). ....

My 2210 wouldn't produce much heat in the winter so I removed the thermostat and found it was only 160 degree. My Deere dealer had no different heat range thermostats available but I was able to match it at the local NAPA parts store to a thermostat identical in appearance but rated at 195 degrees. That cured the winter heat problem and it hasn’t caused any overheating in the summer. ....
