Anyone have an opinion on the new JD Series 1 compact - the 2305 replacement? Are the new options enough to make a switch from a 2210? The biggest attraction for me is the auto depth control on the 3 pt hitch on the 26 hp "R" version. I haven't see the cost yet.<br>

I'm looking at a 2520 upgrade. Seems like I might get more for the money.<br>

Check out this other forum page link below. You may have a sticky primary or secondary clutch, bad bumpers on the secondary clutch or a problem inside the primary clutch (springs, etc). But a belt would be an early try before spending money on clutch parts. Good luck.

Try removing starter and file flywheel teeth and starter gear teeth. A mushroomed backlash develops and doesn't allow starter to engage. Good luck.

You will find that a sticky clutch shaft (primary or secondary) which is not fully closing at idle, may result in dificulty shifting in/out of gear forward/reverse.

On any engine, when you need to keep a choke on, my experience has been a dirty/ clogged carburator jet passage. I have disassembled carburators more than once to blow air through the passages. Usually I take a very fine wire (sometimes a wire brush pulled out with a needle nose) and push through the ports and jets. Remember to replace/ install and in-line gas filter, or you'll probably repeat this several times. It may be necesary to flush the gas tank too. Good luck.

If the calipers are not ground up from operating with no pads, you can rebuild them with parts from JD dealer. It is not fun to replace the pads though, but I've done it a couple of times. Be careful about disasembling them too far. Do only one at a time. You may need seals and bumpers, but if you're careful, probably not. Go to JDParts.com for a free diagram. Good luck. I would take it off your hands if you were closer :) Take your time & be patient. The brakes are the most frustrating part of the AMTs.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm headed to Madison tomorrow and I pass right by a JD dealer with two 2520's on the lot. I'll just swing off the interstate and measure one up. That will answer my question.

Thanks for the tip. My landscape rake has adjustable guide wheels that perform the same way. They work great! I miss the control mostly when I use my scraper blade and box blade.

As for the missing 10% it is mostly an ego trip in wanting lift more with the loader and 3 pt. My dealer suggests making two trips with the loader instead of one - he's right of course. But the itch still itches!!

I guess I'll continue to poke around and maybe that surprise deal that's too good to pass up will emerge.

A lot of fancy cars have been mentioned. I'll suggest you look at a Honda Element AWD. I have had many vehicles in my 60+ years and the ugly little element is a winner.
My wife drives a Honda CRV and loves it. I still have my 76 Dodge pickup...Good Luck.

Thanks for all the replies, you gave me some darn good info that I logged in the back of my brain box.
The dealer felt that I accidentally bumped the 3 point lever putting it in the raise position. I probably did it while turning in the seat to back up. Apparently that put a load on the "priority" hydraulic system. That resulted in oil not being available for "other" less important functions. He checked everything else out and all were OK. I got the tractor back and it's working just fine. Needless to say I secured the levers for the 3 point and other PTOs so I don't unknowingly bump them to the wrong position. (at least now I'll be smarter in what to do) Thanks again.

The snow blade with power angle and a rubber edge was 1,985.00 complete. The cost for the quick connect somehow got buried in the tractor cost and I don't recall that number. The quick connect allows me to drive up to either the loader bucket or snow plow and curl/lift the loader to engage it then manually lift 2 arms to lock in place.
I'll let you know what it does in snow when we get some.
It will be a lot easier than the rear manual blade I've been using, my chiropractor agrees.

I bought a '04 Yukon. It has a wiring harness for a trailer controller and the harness has a plug that simply plugs in under the dash when needed. I took the old controller (2 years old) from my '97 Suburban at trade-in time.<br>

The controller wires (4) must be spliced to the harness wires (5). Everything matches except the harness has a BROWN wire for "Illumination". I suspect it is for the controller panel lights.<br>

It this wire (brown) necessary for my controller to work correctly? Or, should it be spliced to the 12V lead? Or something else?<br>

I bought a 52" Woods tiller for my JD2210 last year. It's a wonderful tool. My suggestions: Run your PTO at a high speed; Don't lift you tiller too far up when it's engaged as it puts stress on the PTO shaft; Check the bolts for tightness BEFORE you run it the first time, and then again after you finish; check the oil level on the chain box; Open the back sheild to allow rock to kick out; Keep your FEL on or use front end weights; drive SLOW; Keep your head on swivel.

You'll be amazed by the fine results you'll get.

I put the loader on my 2210 and have never been sorry. It's a real workhorse and does a thousand odd jobs. Yesterday I had a 15 gallon sprayer tank in it and I sprayed my trees from the drivers seat.

If you don't want the loader then downsize to a strong Garden Tractor. But, you'll be missing lots of fun! There's always another project on my 5 acres or for my neighbors.

Thanks for the tip. I've made arrangements to have it serviced at my dealer under Warranty. He had a hard time finding the fan blade part even though I gave him a printout from the on-line manual. It just wasn't coming up on his machine. I'll let folks know how the dealer decided to approach this repair. Maybe he's got a trick up his sleeve??

The 2210 has a connector at the rear of the seat. It can be used to run a set of back-up lights. It is controlled by the light switch on the dash.

My only problem was mating the connector they used. I cut theirs off and installed my own. Look at my pics and you might see a yellow wire cover - that's where the line is.

I recently wanyed power up front fro a sprayer. I could not find a source up under the hood by the lights. I would up drilling a swutch into the dash and running a line up to the battery as you plan to do. It isn't hard, but it is clumsy. An extra socket on the fuse bank would have been helpful.
