Are there any compacts built for row crop production? None of them I've seen have the kind of clearance you need to go over a growing crop on a bed. We need a small tractor for doing mini-plot demonstration and research. We need to be able to mimic what is done in the real world, but on a small scale. Is there a modern equivalent to the Farmall Cub or Farmall 140? Any ideas would be appreciated.

A while back there was a pic on this board of a JD 4100 with extra tall tires on it for ground clearance, if I remember right they used it for spraying crops. I don't think any brand makes a tall compact tractor, maybe a utility tractor is more what you need. my 2 cents ....

A few months ago, I ran accross and posted to this board a manufacturer that is building what is basically an updated version of the old Allis-Chalmer's Model G tractor. It is a lightweight tractor with high clearance that has the implements mounted behind the front wheels near the center of the tractor. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the tractor or find the post or the web site. Perhaps someone remembers what the name of the tractor is. For those who aren't familiar with the old Allis-Chalmer's Model G, Yesterday's Tractors has a web page on them. I have seen a couple of the Model G's still in use around the Portland, OR area. ....

John Deere built a 900HC several years back. It was based on the 850 and 950 series tractors. It had high clearance and offset design just like the IH 140.If you could find one of these it would probably fit your needs perfectly. Unfortunately I don't think many of these were built. ....
