For those with absolutely nothing better to do, I've updated my Caddigger construction page. I've got about 46 hours of fabrication time and have used over 15 pounds of welding rods. This project is going much better than expected; I should have the final part, the bucket, done sometime this week and have everything fitted together next weekend.

Thanks for the update and taking the time to show us your project, Bill! I'm enjoying watching your progress.
And all I can say is that I wish MY welding looked as nice as yours! :-) ....

Thanks. But I must confess my best welding trick, I only take pictures of the good ones!

Bill your doing a great job. I have built backhoes for years and the first one took me forever! Looks to me like your way ahead of schedule. Your welds look fine just remember when you use 7018 keep your arch tight. And yes low carbon rod needs to be DRY. ....

Thanks for the tips and compliments. I've had a lot of fun and learned a lot on this project. I've got the bucket done (week 6) and have posted the pictures.
You've got an impressive web page; if I'm ever close, I'll try to stop by and check out your store.
Thanks, Bill ....
