2006 L3400 Kubota Backhoe vs Bush Hog

Just picked up a used 2006 L3400. Has 13 hrs on it. would like to purchase a back hoe attachment. Don't know which one to get Kubota or Bush hog. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Preferences would be a reasonably quick connect/disconnect and ease of use. Thanks.

I'd recommend the Kubota, two reasons the first, warrantee, I know manufacturers like Woods and Bush-hog say they will cover the tractor's warrantee if it does have damage from their attachment but why leave the possibility! Second, Kubota designed the tractor and who do you think knows the most about it? Someone who is trying to make a machine cover as many models and makes as possible to get the best return on their investment or your investment?

Art,

I appreciate your input. I kicked that around and think that you make a great deal of sense. The Kubota is about a grand more. Bush Hog has a good name and reliable products. I've looked at both and they both have a beefed up system. One might be a little heavier but only minimally. The BIG concern is that both sales guys from each side say it'll take about two hours to hook one of theirs up. That's REALLY my main concern. I don't want to screw around and thake any more time than absolutely necessary in changing it out. Any thoughts on one being easier than the other?

The two hours is for initial hook up as the Kubota is done in about 5 minutes from hoe to three point hitch. With the subframe built the way it is for the Kubota it doesn't decrease the ground clearence like a full sub carriage will.

sesails; I'll have to agree with you that Bush Hog has a good reputation in the equipment field, they have been around a long time. And also I have to agree with Art, the Kubota backhoe was designed to be mounted on your tractor thru a subframe that spreads the load and the stresses a backhoe can produce so as not to damage the frame of your tractor. Three point hitches just weren't designed to handle the type of load that a backhoe can create. I have a model 48 Deere backhoe that mounts on my 4310 in basicly the same design manner as Kubota uses. I'm not dead positive, but I think that the Kubota subframe like the Deere subframe stays on the tractor while the backhoe is off. Mounting is pretty simple long as the tractor and the backhoe are on a pretty level surface, a cement floor works great. Enjoy your machines. Frank.

Thanks Frank. Appreciate your input. I believe that the one to go with is the BH 75 (Kubota) Best price I've seen thus far is about 6995.00 with the sub frame mounted and out the door. Unless anyone has other suggestions that is...

sesails, I was also looking at L3400 tractor, but the dealer told me that I would have to use the BL4690B hoe(3pt pump driven model)over the BH75 because the BH75 would only work on the HST L3400,gear drive would have to be the BL4690B hoe ???? I am in OHIO Please let me know what you find out Thanks Pat
