I see a sp 1740 for sale, allegedly very low hours, but wonder if it's one of those rebuilt in Vietnam tractors.
What years was this unit made?

thanks to all

It's Shibaura (an industrial suburb of Tokyo where the firm started). I think they're all grey market. This means the company won't offer support (moot because it no longer exists), it's unlikely there's any factory documentation in English, and there's no way of knowing the actual hours. It may have been worked on in Japan, VN, here, or not at all.

Tractors, especially Japanese ones, don't go by specific years, as the same model typically runs for 5-10. And since a good tractor, properly maintained, can last for 50, the year is not important.

It all depends on what the savings are worth to you. ....
