My cooling fan/pulley is loose on my Shibaura 2003 and I'm starting to hear a rubbing sound when the engine runs. Is it possible that the pulley is just loose or is this a definite sign that the water pump bearings are going? Any source for new pumps and repair manual?
Also, does any one know off hand the oil filter compatible with this tractor -- will ford filters fit?
Thanks

It would seem a Ford or New Holland filter would work as they built some of their engines.
I don't know of parts source but someone else here may.
If you try wiggleing the fan you should be able to tell where the motion is, in shaft or not. I would just try the bolts to see if tight which they probably are and your water pump is warning you. Be careful, it could fail with little notice and engine loose coolant and run hot. ....

Sure seems tight, is there room to run a wrench into the bolts from the side? An open end or box end straight wrench?
Really doubt your bolts are loose but you may be fortunate. Fan is loose and noise coming from it, hard not to be water pump. Unless it is so loose it is rubbing or there is a idler pulley making the noise something else driven by the belt. ....
