Hi there,
I was wondering what gear/speed people use to till
their gardens? Is 1 mph not too fast for use
with a tiller?
Do I really need a creeper transmission for tiller work?
The lowest gear is suppose to go 1 mph.

Can't be answered because ground speed is only one factor among, for instance, traction, tilling depth, number of passes, and ground composition. You'll get the hang of it. ....

Also, there is: how wide is tiller, and available HP--can the machine handle it? And is it too heavy for the machine?
I have observed that the machine should handle the tiller so ong as it's about the width or a little larger than the machine. And HST is the way to go versus a gear (I will hear some crap about THIS I know---but there, I said it.)
You should also be asking about rotation too--forward or backward. I don't have a tiller per se, but I do have a "power rake" or "pulverizer" which is sort of like a tiller ONLY in that it has a rotating member studded with 200 carbide tips instead of 15-20 knives like a tiller. And a tiller slices; mine grinds. It's 6' wide and I have 33HP (gross) with 4wd and HST. ....

There really isn't a set speed to till at, you will just kind of know when it's right, I don't remember whether I go one MPH, but likely less than one. If you have a large commercial garden then speed could be a factor, but I just do a home garden. Eight inch depth is pretty deep for a common rear mount tiller, probably six inches is a more realistic maximum depth. Don't try going full depth the first pass, multiple passes are easier on the tiller and will give you a finer seedbed. A gear drive tractor will work fine, hydro is OK but not necessary. ....

I'll be buying NH TD5050 for my 80ac, it is 80 HP PTO.
But for my 2 ac garden, I was thinking to till it
after I plow it, and remove the stones.
I'll probably be using something like Howard Rotovator,
but I'm just wondering if 1mph would be not be too fast
for it.
Do you guys have creeper transmissions on your "tiller" tractors?
What is the speed RANGE that you've used in your tilling?
Slowest and highest speed with your tiller and your tractor?

If you needed a creep-gear for rototilling all tractors would have one. But they are rare, and owners with tractors that have this feature don't use it and often don't know it's there. Start with the lowest gear in the lowest range and when you're comfortable, try it in 2 and 3. ....

I'm not sure I need one.
Do you use creeper gears for your tilling, or you go
with the lowest gear in the slowest zone?
What tractor do you use to do your tilling? ....

How much tilling could you hire someone to do for the cost of a creeper gear? How about a creeper gear plus the tiller plus the fuel and wear?
Or, if the creeper is a dealer add-on, order it without, and if you find you need it, get it put on. If it's a factory, not a dealer-install, option, ask the dealer to let you try the tiller on his lot with an equivalent tractor, and you decide if 1 mph or whatever is slow enough. The creeper would slow that to around one-third.
If the lowest speed was closer to 0.5 mph, I'd say forget a creeper. As it is, I doubt that you'll ever use it, but can't guarantee that, and it's always better to have a feature and not use it than to need it and not have it. And tractors last a long time, so get what you want.
The odd time I need to till I get a Honda from the local rent-all. ....

Got JD 5083E after all.
The creeper gears were not required.
I till @ 1-3 mph depending on how deep I want
to go. I chisel plow before tilling. Works great. ....
