Am looking to buy a China-Diesel / Hardy-Diesel brand 25 horse-power 4WD backhoe/loader. Piece of junk or quality equipment? I can find no consumer reviews on the web about this brand of tractor. Any comments would be helpful. Thanks.

Apparently China has more brands of tractors and tractor factories than North America. There is a tractors owners website out on the net somewhere that is dedicated to chinese tractors. There may even be a reference to it in our archives here.
My opinion? Buying something of this size and complexity via the mail with no local dealer support is chancy at best. If there is a dealer in your town with a shelf full of parts, filters, service manuals and a hot line to the factory then it might be worth the risk. ....

I am not familiar with that brand either. I too reviewed and also tried out a couple of the chinese compact tractors. I think the engine is probably the best part on them from what I know of them. The fit and finish on most of them are poor and some of the metal is soft, ie. pump shafts twisting off, lift arms bending and stuff like that. They are cheap and they are cheap built. I could not recommend that you buy one. I might buy one if it was used (the bugs worked out) and REALLY cheap. But not to have as my primary tractor. You can find the crate version for about 5k for a 25 horse 4WD. you might want to check http://www.johnstractors.com He has a link to the chinese tractors owners association. That is if you want to check them out further. Most of them are about the same just rebranded by importers over here.

I've heard all the rumors of twists shafts, bent lift arms...From my experience, thats all they are. We've used imported Chinese tractors on our farm for tillage, planting, cultivating and harvesting. Parts are no problems with consumables (filters, belts, hoses, bulbs...) available at the local auto/farm supply store. Typically, you'll get a heavier tractor with your horsepower that relates to better traction. Your bet source for information is ctoa.net. There you'll find a local dealer and a forum dedicated to Chinese tractors. The most imported and supported is Jinma. Some dealers re-label them but many are currently selling them under the Jinma name. My 2 cents...grest value. ....

I also have sold and used chinese tractors and I havnt run in to the "rummered"issues,I think they are a good machine overall ,They arnt for everybody but their is desire for them, parts availability is not a proublem,I have gotton many parts overnight while Ive waited up to 3 weeks for some parts from a Kubota dealership,Im not knocking Kubota in anyway,Im just stating that the rummer about no parts out their is just B.S.,As far as Hardy I believe that they relable the Shenniu tractor,I sell used compacts as well but their many out their who want a machine without breaking the bank for homeowner use or hobby farm use ....

Roger, Hardy is not a Jinma tractor, but you can look at my website to find allot of info on Jinma. You will find many owners opinions in the Survey Results area.
I have never seen a Hardy outside of the Internet. Dong Fengs, which I have touched, appear close to Jinma. I think the DF354 might edge out a JM354, at the same price point. Futian looks good on paper and pictures, but haven't touched one of them, either.
The Chinese tractor market has been increasing over the last few years that I have been paying attention to it. Three years ago there was only a handful of Jinma dealers. This increase has been happening even though there has been a large general perception that they are all junk. They fill a niche at a pricepoint where others can't compete.
