 TC-29 FWD Gear Drive

I took delivery of a new TC-29 FWD gear drive tractor on 3/28/02.

I ordered it with the following equipment: 6-foot farm loader, foldable ROPS, side steps, tool box, rear work light, floor mats.

I paid $14,700.00 delivered.

I also own a 1940 (N. The TC-29 is a great tractor built with extremely high qulaity and durability. I already have 70 hours of field work on it (plowing, disking, harrowing). It has not missed a beat and in my opnion after shopping around has all comparable tractors beat hands down. The foreign tractors are junk. Buy American and you will have something that will last and be worth money in the future.

By the way the TC-30 is built in Japan, not Georgia like the Boomer.

Don't really think that foreign-made versus US made is that big of
an issue. US quality has improved over the years but I don't think
Japanese quality has gone down. I have the TC33D which I think
is assembled in Georgia. I don't know how much of it is made from
parts from Japan.

Ray, Seems that all the compacts have a motor from Japan and who knows what other parts from where? They are only assembled in the US. In my opinion that does not qualify as made in the good old USA! I myself would be leary of any grey market tractors but the name brands with a good dealer network should not be that big of a problem.

Ray, I have a TC29S fwd and my father has, among others, a 1949 8N. I got to plow with both of them today, and disc with my TC29 for the first time. I believe that the old Ford will pull a plow better, my tractor's weakness seems to be the industrial tires. It will handle the single plow we use (14 or 16"Wink yeah right and will drag the 6' disc harrow just fine at the most aggressive angle.
I've got about 250 hours on my tractor now, in about a year and a half of use. Most of the hours have been finish mowing, but quite a bit of backhoe use, skidding logs for firewood, and moving rocks with a carry-all or dirt scoop. I'm really tickled with it.
Good luck,
Bill

I am well aware that the engine on my TC-29 was made in Japan, but the majority of the tractors content is American made and that is what counts. From examination I tend to believe that other than the engine 80 to 90% of the components are American. This is an excellent tractor with outstanding quality.

My TC-29 pulls a two--bottom plow and a 6.5 foot disk with no problem with agricultural tires. The other day it also pulled a Freightliner FL-70 with a 45 foot trailer out of the mud that got stuck making a delivery to our farm.

The sad thing is, why don't we have a nice compact made in USA. We are slowly losing our manufacturing base. When we lose it, It will be real hard getting it back. I just feel we are getting weaker by not being self supporting.
