I bought a tractor that has Massey Ferguson 1042 on its hood,..but cant find any literature on a 1042, after doing some searching on the tractor , the steering wheel says Hinomoto on it,..serial number is 00163,..fuel filter.wix 33390,..it has 2 hydraulic filters wix51664 and oil filter wix51346
tag on left side of transmission has
........304

......3S150

It's 4x4, the drive shaft for the front axle is enclosed and comes from the rear axle housing, front tires size 7.50x16, back tires 13.6 x26
it is a 4 speed trans with S(start) position, 3 speed transfercase ( up is high, middle is low bottom is medium,2 speed rear end, with dif. lock and a 3 speed PTO .
dimensions of tractor are center to center of front &rear axles 6ft,..rear fenders outside to outside 58"

it has a loader,..but I think it is an after thought,..not OEM

motor is a 3 cylinder diesel

another hint to the model,..I read that the E2804 has an aluminum bell housing,..a quick magnet check told me it is not aluminum,.t is cast iron,.so chances are my tractor is an E324 ....

OK pretty sure its an E324,..changed the oil,..hydraulic oil looks new,..but there is a cap on the housing that the injector pump is mounted to,..when I remove the cap I can see the gear drive for the injector pump,..I can not find a capacity for this capped reservoir,..does it draw fluid from the hydraulic system?,..is it it's own reservoir,..which I'm leaning towards because it has it's own cap,..if it is a seperate reservoir,..what is the fluid required and capacity??

thanks for your help :) ....

OK evidently the crank case oil lubes the injector pump,..and I have an extra oil cap location depending on my mood as to which one I use I suppose,..

BUT,..now that I have it running and I did a little pushing horse crap with it,..it doesnt like to steer with a load in the bucket,..so my questions now steer (no pun intended) towards the power steering,..is there a screen? or seperate filter for the power sterring?? ,..the casse or cast iron housing says "Toyoda" on the left side ....

Just read your thread. Your tractor sounds identical to my Hinomoto E324, including the steering issue that you were experiencing. For me, that turned out to be a nasty problem with the bearings and the cast iron housing that holds them. (There had been previous damage, and previous repair work in there.) The bottom line for me is that I now need to find parts that are probably going to be tough to get. ....

Hi Doug,

Welcome to the board!

The thread you replied to is a flaw years old, but no matter.

The hydraulics for the 3pth are separate from other functions. There is likely a control knob under the seat between your feet as you sit on the tractor. Check that it has not been turned all the way closed. It is meant to control the speed the 3pth goes down at, but if closed all the way will freeze it completely.

Best of luck. ....
