 MF 1240

Finally took the plunge and bought my 1240, along with a 1246 loader and Rhino SE5 rotary cutter about 3 weeks ago. Since then I have done about 12 hrs of pasture mowing and 4 hours of loader work. Changed tires from Turf to R4 (industrial), which made quite a difference especially for loader work.Would like to hear from other 1240 users about their experience.

I bought a 1240 last August with a 1246 loader, a Bush Hog Rotary Mower, and a
Bearcat Chipper. I am getting ready to build a house in a 30 acre woods and have used the 1240 about 65 hours and have had no trouble at all. I have the AG tires. I just recently bought a Kelley Back Hoe which seem to work very well.

Larry, I have a 1250 with a 1246 loader and I was wondering how do you like your backhoe attachment? I was interested to see how powerful it could be with a compact tractor?

Martin, I also have a MF 1250-4. I don't know anything about the Kelly backhoes, but I have a MF 1217. It is a very good hoe. It has a lot of power. Not to long ago I dug 2400' of 16" wide ditch. The depth varied from 2'to 4'depending on what I was putting in each branch. Every one of the contractor on site was inpressed at how it dug. The dirt was hard packed red clay with rock. In one area you could look in the ditch and see three waves of 6" rocks that I had dug through. I have been real happy with it. JerryG

Jerry would you happen to know the cost of a 1217 backhoe?

Martin, They were around $6100 last August. My dealer had mine in inventory for a while and wanted to get rid of it. I payed $5300. Good thing is got it when I did, in the next three weeks I think he sold two more and had to transfer them in from other dealers. JerryG

I purchased a Kelley 15A at a local dealer who had it setting around for 2 years for $4000.00. It seems to work very well so far as I have not used it much yet.

Does the Kelly have a subframe? My 1217 does. I can take it on or off in about 15 minutes. I will have that down to about 8-10 minutes in the next 3-4 weeks. That's because my dealer didn't put the hose connections where you could get to them very well. I have already bought the hoses to put it where it will be easy to get to and also a switch valve so that I don't have to reconnect the power beyond. I will be able to just disconnect and switch the valve the other way. JerryG

Jerry, thanks for the info on the 1217 backhoe. I bought my tractor online from tractorsmart.com. I am looking at a used 1210 with a mowing deck for 9,0000. The models have changed abit since the 1210 and I was wondering if it was a fair price?
