I own 5 acres in Natchez, MS. The property includes a mix of bermuda and bahia grasses along with various weeds, etc. I would like to kill off the other grasses without harming the bermuda. Any suggestions?

MSMA works well to kill grasses like crab grass, dallis grass, johnson grass, etc. without harming bermuda. Using a pre-emergent at the right time of year is probably the best way to control it. Most grasses come back from seed. Bermuda also comes from seed but mainly from last years roots. Check with your county extension agent to find out about the best control for your area. ....

MSMA has to be applied to the leaves of the trash grass. So apply it when you see the grasses start to appear. The day time temperatures should be above about 70 degrees. I usually spray it on in late spring after the bermuda greens up and the other grasses start to show. You may have to apply more than once to get good control. ....
