I just want to throw caution for those in the lawn care industry. Very recently i was doing a lawn on an mtd pro 61" mower and went to pull up on the brake when my arm was vicously slashed due to a jagged piece of metal on the frame. I'm not sure how it got jagged, or even detached for that matter, but word to the wise, check your machine for jagged pieces of metal before working on it (it will save you unsightly scars, trust me, mine is like two inches long)

Caution should always be used when around machinery. Safety shields should remain in place and when they are missing or things don't look right caution should be used while being investigated. It is important to do a walk around every machine before use to evaluate its condition. This should be done the same as checking the oil. ....
