Hello again,
I am considering adding a FEL to my L4300, can the board make any suggestions about what my options are, and if possible what I might expect to pay? I am located in central NY. Thanks for any ideas.
PS while we're discussing add ons, has anyone used the snowco canvas sunshade that folds forward and back? I see all the nice, hard shell, ones available to add on to the ROPS but I usually leave the ROPS folded down to ease my way in and out of the barn.

I don't know your tractor, but have added a FEL to mine. It's a costly attachment (I'd guess around $3k), but I think the most useful. (I assume the tractor is 4WD and the front end's in good condition.)
Any attachment will go on/off any same-catagory tractor easily, but the FEL is an exception. It weighs 500-1000 lbs, must fit perfectly because it moves, and is attached both mechanically and hydraulically. So I'd get a dealer for your make to choose and install it. ....

The L-4300 took the LB552 loader or the heavy duty LA682 which was used on other L-series tractors. The maximum capacity of the LA682 is 1785 at the pivot point so look for a loader that has no more lifting ability.
One of the things that I look for in an after market loader is the quality of fit. We had another manufacturers tractor in for other repairs and the loader had slotted holes for mounting to the frame and were loose. When pointing it out to the customer that it will require him monitioring the issue he was quite disappointed. Some will also stick out the front of the tractor further then needed for that model and requires more ballast on the rear. This is also the bad way to go as it puts additional stress on the front axle. ....

Thanks Art,
I guess the best way to go is with a Kubota FEL, the tractor is like new, it lives in the barn, and the car gets rusty in the weather. I guess I should have streched for it when I got the tractor. I asked you before about Terry Abbot, have you seen or heard if he is still in the business? Thanks for your thoughts!
Pat ....
