 BX1850 power

I just bought a BX1850 with front loader and spike bar for the bucket. Has turf tires and 54 inch finecut mower. Also will get first maintanence and tire alcohol fill thrown in. Paid $10176 for the unit plus another $3127 for the front loader and spike bar. This included 6% sales tax and a $100 fee for the paper with Kubota for the finance. Now the question is... Does the 1850 have the power to handle things on a hiillside (power and counterweight of only the alcohol filled tires and turf tread? I hate to go with a bigger model and besides the dealer really does not want to change thigs and will charge an additional $500 for the refinance paoperwork/registration etc. I don't think I will get the $6500 use if I go to the BX 24 (that is roughly what it will cost me for the 24 over the 1850 with frontloader) to get the backhoe but am a bit concerned about power with the 1850 and with stbility and primariy grass cutting use with the BX24. Not sure if going to the BX23 (that would run me about $2500 more) just for the extra HP is worth it considering I may lose a little stability in height of the unit. Any thoughts on the selection of the BX 1850 since I would like the front loader and will primarily use the unit for maintanance of by one acre hillside back yard.

My 1850 will run out of traction before it runs out of power.

How's the traction? Think the turf tires will be ok. I was going to get a caryall for the back to add about 400# if i needed it(primary use wil be to mount my 25 gal sprayer though. Also how is it on slopes?

Well, I went all out. Changed over to the BX24 with the front loader, backhoe, toothed bar in the loader bucket and bar tires. Ran me a $6250 more but won't have to rethink things later. Should get it in a couple of days. Cost without tax was $18,300. For the extra 4 or 5 HP and the backhoe and 60 inch deck instead of the 54 it cost me another $6250. Rather do it now than regret not getting the backhoe capability and availability. Mostly toy but do have some jobs now it will really come in handy for. Hopefully the extra 2 inches in height won't affect stability on my slopes.

Congratulations on your new toy, you will love it. I use my BX23 for everything and the best part is you can change the attachment in a snap, I have a 60 deck and I like the way it cuts.once again congrats. Smile

I truly believe that you won't regret the upgrade, the versatilty alone w/ the BH is really handy. It is amazing how well they hold their value. I traded in my bx22 (the original TLB SCUT from Kubota) after 3 1/2 years and got 75% trade in value. It probably would have held there from then on, but my needs changed and so the story goes.
