Ok, to make a long story short I still haven't ordered a tractor and my wife is sick of hearing me talk tractors. I nearly purchased The 485X, but with all the Xtras the price was so high, it just didn't seem right for me. So I gave up on the idea of trying to justify the cost of the tractor with the ability to mow my small lawn. (LOL, hey it was worth a try!) So I started pondering the 2210. I test drove it and I really like it. I am new to this so I am little lost on some stuff. My biggest concern is weight. I want to be able to tow the tractor and loader on a single axle landscape trailer. I am purchaseing this to till a couple of acres of wildlife food plots and work on a recreational property. I guess I dont really see the major differences between the 2210 and the 4010. I dont understand what a independent PTO is and I see that is a feature on the 4010 but I am not sure on the 2210. I do understand one is category 1 and the other is a limited category 1 based on height. Also there is a adjustment on the PTO on the 4010 to set drop and lift height ? I also ASSume that the frame on the 2210 is a garden tractor variety and the 4000 series, even the small frames are heavier. The 2210 has 5 more HP. I would really like to hear some thoughts on theese two units. I figure I have about a week left before my wife has a tractor talk breakdown.

Doc, I looked at a 2210 and a 4010 side-by-side a couple weeks ago. They both basically built on the same frame: both weigh 1400 pounds and both are engineered from the same components. Both have an HST drive as standard equipment.
They are similar but not the same as my 2 year old 4100. There are some major improvements and differences. I have not yet seen a new 4110 or 4115 so I don't know if the improvements have moved up the line.
A live or independent PTO simply means that you can bring the tractor to a halt (as in zero ground speed) without stopping the PTO's.
Trailering: that had better be a HEFTY single axle trailer. Both the tractors you are looking at are going to weigh 2400-2500 pounds with a loader and a tiller and will probably be 14 feet long, so equipped.
As to major differences, the 2210 is closer to the ground and will run larger PTO driven implements. It comes down to tire size and horsepower, otherwise they are quite similar. ....

Mark,thanx for the info. I intend to use the imatch system and leave the tiller at my proprty. The loader and tractor will be all I move, still you are correct about the weight and I do not want to push any limits. The trailer I am looking at is 12' all aluminum by Triton and has a 3500# axle, trex side kit and a load capacity of 2900#. I estimate I will be at 2000#. I priced the 4010 this morning, the tractor is $700 more and the loader is $400 more. I am on my way out to look at the two but I doubt I will see $1,100 worth of difference. ....

I had a chance to look at the 2210 and the 4010 side by side this week. Not only is the 2210 a better buy for me I like it better. There was very little difference between the two except price. The 4010 is $700 more and the loader is a additional $400. The only difference I saw was that the 4010 had a few more adjustable features or pre-sets and had a cruise control, but it is 18 hp and the 2210 is 23 hp. The nost noteable difference is that the rear differential is made of alloy instead of cast iron on the 2210. I suspect thats why they went with the larger engine, weight and marketability as most concentrate on Hp. I was recently all set on the 485X series to the point that I was seeing green and yellow counting sheep, well the last sheep saw the price tag mid leap and landed on me in my sleep. The X series is nice but the 2210 is actually less expensive after you put all of the add ons together. I Plan to order a 2210 this week baring some major change. I will also have to eat a few of my own words, gulp...as I am going to order the FEL. ....
