Looking at either purchasing the OEM BH with JD 4110 or getting the Woods BH 6000 and having it installed when new tractor purchased. Like the sleeker look of the Woods on the back of the 4110 and specs seem equal or better than JD 46. Any thoughts on the above comparison and whether a better deal can be made for the 46 from the factory or dealer putting BH 6000 on when tractor arrives from factory. Appreciate the input!!

Well I'm afraid I don't have much input except to say I have looked briefly into each of these for my 4110 and the Woods does look nice, although I have yet to see a 46 in person to compare.

My only thought was on the mounting, does the 46 with it's rockshaft assist go on easier, unless the Woods does this too. I think if one was quite a bit cheaper, I would go for that one. But if the prices are similar, maybe I would get the Deere if only because the mounting system would be by the guys who made/designed the tractor, thus I would assume it would be a better fit for long-term wear/stress.

But after saying all this, my current plan is to build my own, since $5k is a lot of money seeing how the whole machine with loader was only $11.5k

The 46 does not attach to the rock shaft in any manner.

It attach's at four points. After you pull the lower arms off the three point it slides onto the now empty empty pins.

Then you pin it to the FEL supports up front.

I think the next size up... the 47... has some sort of rock shaft lift arrangement. ....

As to which is best....two questions:

1) Does the Woods unit void the tractor warranty?

2) Does the Woods use the 4110 internal hydraulics, or does it have a separate pump and reservoir?

....

According to the JD dealer the BH6000 would not void the warranty and is a subframe mount using internal hydralics. Of course I've been down this same road with my pick-up after putting in aftermarket speakers that required some modification of the housing brackets in the doors by myself. Any problems with the truck from that point on were "because of the speakers" according to the dealer (even engine trouble, brakes, you name it). The BH6000 is cheaper by about 1000-2000. Specs are at link below. ....

That is a big savings.... might have been tempted myself had they been available two years ago.

Make sure you get the tall folding ROPS form Deere so there is plenty of room underneath. It is designed to fold and lock in the folded position without bumping into the 46 B/H controls. It may not exactly fit around the Woods controls. ....

Although I don't recall saying the 46 "attached" to the rockshaft, I remembered reading somewhere that ALL JD backhoes had a patented "rockshaft assist" mounting, which made it easier to put on. I guess I was lied to.

The 46 only came along two years ago. What you heard was probably true until then. ....
