i am looking to purchase a deere gator, it is a gas 4 by 2. it has about 2500 hours, does anyone have any thoughts about this machine and is 2500 hours a lot for these machines?

It sounds like a lot of hours for a machine to me. Mine is a HPX 4x4 with 206 hrs. My dealer told me he thought it was a 2004 model. I have mine up for sale Asking $5500 ....

I'm rebuilding a Gator engine after what I thought was a fairly minimal 2018 hours.
I also have a generator which is being driven by a 1932 Lister diesel engine which has probably done around 200,000 hours with the only maintenance being 3 head gasket replacements over the decades and a new oil seal a few years back. They sure don't build them like they used to.... ....
