To jump start the tractor do you just cross the soleniod?

If it won't crank, there could be a safety lockout, typically to ensure that the clutch pedal is down, that's malfunctioning. If it will crank, jumping won't help it start any better; troubleshoot the fuel system.

To jump it, look for a couple of electrical terminals on the starter. It's easier with a few inches of heavy insulated copper wire bent into a U shape and with the ends exposed. ....

Thanks, it did finally crank when I jumped the solenoid, so I tried it with the key switch and it worked!
