 Rear Discharge Finish Mower

I am looking at a 60" rear-discharge finish mower for a JD770. I havelooked at Woods, BushHog, and LandPride. Does anyone have any experiencewith rear-discharge versions of these mowers? Is there always a problemwith grass clumping behind the mower with rear discharge as opposed toa side discharge mower? Is the quality of the cut the same for rearversus side discharge?

I have a woods rear discharge, and there is no way you'd ever take it from me. It is WAY better than any side discharge I've ever used. Clumping is not an issue. Now if the grass is really tall, it will leave gras on top as it cuts, but even, not clumpy. I think this is just due to trying to cut too much.If I keep after it, it does wonderfully. Earlier this year I cut part of the yard, and had trouble with PTO drive, and finished w/ my neighbors Befco(Spelling?) it was a side discharge, and where the woods left nothing, this left clumps.now you have my $0.02

 Rear Discharge Finish Mower

I use a LandPride 5 ft behind a TC25D. Really like the mower. It does seem to tax the tractor every once in a while....but tractor ain't that big, and lots of hills. Back to the point, the mower does a great job, mowed through 3ft + grass, mole hills, small tree trunks, even did a little asphalt trimming (by accident.) Blades are fairly easy to remove; had to sharpen them twice already, but again, I punish these things.

 Rear Discharge Finish Mower

I have a Landpride FD25-60 Side discharge. I love the thing but I wish it was a rear discharge. I have been using my neighbors rear discharge Landpride FDR 15-60since he wanted me to cut his lawn I might as well cut mine. I had a rear listedon my birthday lust list, My kids bought me a 12 ga. shotgun and a .357 Desert Eagleinstead. Damn the luck.....

 Rear Discharge Finish Mower

I have a LandPride FDR2572 72" rear discharge mower. I pull it with a Kubota B2710. I looked at Woods. I thought the Landpride was the better mower and VALUE. I have no clumping, even in tall or wet grass. The clippings are fine in texture without a mulching kit. Since it is a rear discharge, it is EVENLY distributed behind the mower and not in a row to one side of your tractor.

 Rear Discharge Finish Mower

I replaced a massey 60 inch side disharge with a Woods 60 inch rear discharge this season. The woods is almost double the weight of the massey 600lbs, but once the mower is on the ground mowing it is not noticable. Pull it with John Deere 650 and cut 2 acres. This is the smoothest cut I have ever seen and have had no problems. The grass does clump a little but even with more weight tractor does not seem to strain. Believe clumping could be reduced by removing safety chains but it isn't that noticable and is evenly spread. I would buy another woods in a minute it is a real hoss.
