i have a farmall super H, it was a 6v system but i coverted it to a 12v system, when i did this i replaced the 6v coil with a 12v coil, and it runs really good for about 20 minutes then the coil heats up and shuts off, I have retimed it and reajusted the points, and the pluggs are in good condition, also the ignition switch is good, so I do not know what to do next to get it to work

Are you running a pos or neg ground system? On a neg ground system, your points should be on the neg side of the coil. ....

I suspect you have a twelve volt coil that says, on the side,(external resistor) and you need to add one. Unless the 12 volt coils specifically say "internal resistor," they need an exteral resistor.
They used Delco resistors when IH switched to 12 volts. See if your local Autozone or such has a resistor for the firewall of a '63 Chevy 6 cylinder. It should work.
I use either a:
Wells AL795 (because it has the metal strap to attach to newer coil holders and includes small bolts to attach wires) {this matches what IH used when they went to 12 volt for the 460/560} or
Wells CR101 (it is a thicker ceramic holder and poses a problem attaching)
It goes between the wire from the ignition switch and the + terminal of the coil. Later coil holders had a tab to screw it to, but you may have to make a tab to mount it to the bolt that holds the coil to the distributor. ....
