Hi to everyone, new to this forum. I have a 1997 cub 7195 hydro w/fel, belly mower, and backhoe. Problem is lots of leaks around the rear end housing. Checked fluid and it just runs out the tube when dipstick is removed. Placed a pan under tractor to catch fluid, left it for a day and 2 quarts or more ran out. Tractor seemed to pull worse and was noisier so I put it back in. I bought it used and only show 340 hours. Everything seems to work, except the rear lights and flashers. Do I just run it over full or drain it all, change the filter, remove the screen and fix the leaks? Did the previous owner over fill it to hide a major problem? Any help would be appreciated!

I don't know the actual mechanics of that particular hydro, but my initial reaction is that the filter is clogged. May not be bypassing properly either. Possible resulting over-pressure on one side could cause the overflow and/or leaks, and/or under-pressure on the other side causing the power and noise problem. If true, I'd change all three - fluid, filter, screen. Clean off the whole oily exterior as well, and see if that helps with the leaks as well.
