My ignition is getting worn and shorting. I was wondering if anyone would know what wires to lead to a new "push button" ignition to activate the starter. I really dont care about any of the dummy lights, I just want the engine to turn over. Thanks.

It's a gas engine, right? You'll need not just the starter but ignition too. And you don't want shorted wires dangling. So it might be safest and most effective to replace what's failed. ....
