I have a 250as with lots of blow-by coming out of the engine breather. I pulled the heads and cylinders to find the pistons having the rings broken as well as the lands. Funny that it still ran well this way with lots of power, only problem was that at times it was hard to start and had lots of blow-by.

I bought new pistons and replaced these. If you replace the pistons make sure that you order the pin retainer clips because the styles changed and the old ones do not work in the new pistons. Runs well now with no blow-by. ....

Hi, great pictures. How many hours were on your engine when you rebuilt it? Did you replace the cylinders or do anything to them? ....

Not sure how many hours are on the tractor. I had bought it on Ebay from a couple of fellows in Ohio and it was inop. It had a mess of problems when I got it home, injection pump was messed up, injectors buggered up, fuel lines bent up and other problems I try not to think about. When I finally got it running it had lots of blow-by, so much you had to pay close attention to the oil. But it ran well and had lots of power, just hard to start sometimes. I think that someone went heavy on the ether trying to start her. You should never have to use ether on these tractors with it have the decompression lever.
I just replaced the pistons and rings, used the original cylinders, no damage to them. Just ran a hone through them. ....
