What are you going to do with this property? Did you say you already cleared it or do you want someting to clear it with. A crawler sounds like it's more stable than most rubber wheels but won't the crawler pretty much uproot and trample anything it crosses? Are you going to clear it for lawn or what? The best vehicle for clearing is rubber, if skidders are out of your budget you can get a tractor that's built like a skidder like the 4WD articulated Pasquale's or Ferrari's. They look and handle like little skidders. Throw a wench on it and you're logging.

I am in the process of making my B6200 into a dual. It will have 4 wheels in the back, so the tractor won't tip. I bought two rims and two tires, and have figured out all the basics about mounting them onto the stock wheels, and there is no problem. Well, there is one problem. Let me tell you what I am doing...

The tires I have in the rear are 8.3 by 16 ag treads. Now I have 4, two for each side. On each side, the inner wheel bolts to the hub by the 6 lugs on the 6 inner holes. The rim also has 4 outer holes (square holes to fit carriage bolts to hold the wheel weights) and I bought 4 carriage bolts 12 inches long, and 1/2 inch bolts. To fit in between the two wheels as a spacer, I am using rims designed for 14 inch automobile tires, they fit exactly into the recess on each of the tractor rims,and hold the two tractor wheels about 4 inches apart so the tires don't touch or will with dirt between them. The size that fits best is A-14-DM-5 steel rims. The 4 carriage bolts fit the thing perfectly and I'm using wheel weights on the outside of the outer rims. So, to summarize, the carriage bolts go from the inner rim, through the spacer rim, then the outer rim, and finally the wheel weight, and 12 inch bolts are perfect.

The problem is, will the 4 carriage bolts be strong enough to take the torque when the inner wheel starts to turn the outer wheel, or will the whole thing twist right off? I mean, what happens if the inner wheel gets in the mud and slips and the outer wheel is on dry dirt and takes all the torque? Then all the torque is going through 4 little 1/2 inch carriage bolts. They might break. I don't know what to do that can connect the 2 wheels together in a stronger way, to take the torque. Maybe some sort of iron chucks welded between the rims so the two wheels can't twist with respect to each other, and the torque is driven by the chucks, and the carriage bolts just hold it together.

What do people normally do to connect the outer wheels to the inner ones in a permanent and strong manner?

Hey, metallurgy is metallurgy. I'd rather have a skinny axle made of moly/vanadium/steel drill stock alloy than a big thick axle made of cast iron. No?

Ever check out the size of the U joints on big truck drive shafts? The entire truck is driven by a joint that can't be more than 3/4 inch in diameter at the sprocket.

It's all about the alloy, dude.

I could use a block heater this time of year, been -10 lately.

What heats the block heater? Is it electrical amd plugs in the wall? Not much good on a farm unless your barn has electricity, you'd have to park the tractor near the house.

It's just that the B7500 is listed as a compact tractor and the BX22 is listed as a sub-compact. Sub-compact tractors are basically designed to be lawnmowers. The B7500, from the kubota web site:

Just got back from England. The tractor trailers there are all deisel and about the same size as American ones, but are mostly made in Europe. The few Japanese ones I saw were all Isuzu or Mitsubishi. I never saw a Toyota. The Isuzu tractor trailers were smaller than American or European rigs, but the engines were plenty big enough to stick in a pickup truck. I don't think Toyota makes big deisel engines. I might be wrong.

By the way, I never saw a Mack or Peterbuilt or any other American semi over there. The most common brand of tractor trailer by far was Scania, followed by Volvo and DAF and Man and Iveco, there were a few Mercedes too but not as many as I expected, and many other brands. But no American ones. In England they aren't called tractor trailers, they are called "articulated lorries."

Half of the big trucks over there were Scania. Scania is made by Saab.

My '92 Dakota has sat outside for 11 years and has never seen the inside of a garage. It has 262,000 miles on it. I use it mostly in the winter when they salt the road, and I abuse that truck more than I abuse my wife. Never saw any rust until around 2 years ago.

Meanwhile, '92 Ford's started rusting around 1998. As for Chevy and GMC, the '92's started rusting around '93. No lie. If there are any '92 Chevy's still on the road they look like cancer has wiped out their boxes right down to the frame.

Dakotas are made of galvanized steel. No rust.

I guess I don't know what live PTO means. I always just assumed it meant that the PTO has power when the tractor isn't moving. Of course you don't want the PTO to stop whenever the tractor stops!! Why would you? How can you rototill or get a smooth mow job if the PTO stopped all the time?

I guess live PTO means something else.

How do you set the relief pressure valve? Where is it? Why couldn't somebody just raise the relief pressure without testing it with a guage first?

Of course the engine has to be running at full RPM for all this to count, my rig has low pressure when the engine RMP is not running at full speed. To get full loader power the engine has to be revving all the way.

I finally figured out why my Kubota wants to tip so easily when I'm doing FEL work.....it has no rear counterweights! I never even knew you had to get them when you get a FEL.

Where do I get them? Maybe I can make one out of concrete and let the 3 point lift it.
