have a 96, 855 and my chains can be adjusted for no sway on every implement I have except for the post hole digger, it has about 3" of sway. I s mine different. Dana

I don't know the hp of a 2710, but my 855 is 24hp and it puuls a 1-14 graet in mellow ground, how ever when I get into brome grass & gumbo it's aload for it but it does pull it with out slipping. Like art posted, better small than big for ground engageing equipment

Jeff, I was told 4x4 turf tire & 2600HRS don't know the year, but no mower deck. so I don't belive I'll be interested in it, since the dealer can't get a deck any more.

Is the battery on a 790 in front of the radiater? That is where it's at on my 855 and I have the same problem. My old 755 had the battery under the hood in front of the dash (were the fuel tank is now) it never had any problems. makes me wounder if the battery gets to much of a beating in out front of the axle?

Where did you get your block heater? I just put one on my 855,jd heater $55 with tax. sounds like there the same heater.

I use a landpride 6' airtunnel behind my JD 855 on slopes up to 27 degrees. If your tractor can CRAWL it and the knot in your belly stands it a mower will cut like it's on flat ground as long as you go slow to control tractor. the weight of the mower will tend to pull the rear of the tractor down hill. with a belly mower the tractor will stay straight with the slopes. If at all possible mow up and down slopes to prevent rollover. Most folks won't run a slope more than 15 to 20 degrees, This is a good rule of thumb. I hope this helps,just becareful.

Since no body has commented yet, I guess I will. The only thing that comes to mind is the 4300 have the new front axle under it? That would be the deciding factor for me. The 4000 seires tractors have alot more 3 point and loader lift than the 955. But on the other side of the coin. the 7-8- & 955 tractors have proved to be die hards. The decsion is yours. Thats my 2 cents

I've had the same problem for rear work lights. I got two low watt flood lights, I attached them to the roll bar, I drilled 5/16 hole followed up with a 3/8" tap and put in a 3/8 x 1" bolt to attach the light bracket. Just below the bracket I drilled a small hole and put the wire through with a grommet and run the wire on the inside of the roll bar so it's consealed from sight and limbs. the tractor had a wire allready under the seat for rear lights so when the flashers with lights are on the rear lights are off, turn the swicth another notch and flashers are off and rear lights are on. Hope this will help.

Can any one tell me how wide a 4300 with R-4 tires measure from side wall to side wall (rear) I know it will make a difference if tires are dished in or out. The closest one is 100 miles away and don't plan on going there for some time.<br>Thanks Dana

The reason front tires are running backwards on sterring axles on graders,combines,ect drictional tire on a axle with no drive will have more traction if run backwards for stearing traction only.

A while back there was a pic on this board of a JD 4100 with extra tall tires on it for ground clearance, if I remember right they used it for spraying crops. I don't think any brand makes a tall compact tractor, maybe a utility tractor is more what you need. my 2 cents

I've have talked to some people that have a primary seeder. They do use this same seeder as a over seeder and get away with it. Power rake the dead stuff and set the seed rate down and go. So it sounds like most condition's will work acording to the folks I talked to. I'm stuck on landpride since there only 35 miles where there built, I can get parts very quick and brillion isn't popular where I'm located, (need parts-takes a long time). Well I bought a landpride PS1548 for $2650. plus tax. I'll go out monday afternoon to pick it up.

There is a 1995 - 755 with 460Hrs, mid mount mower, 2wheel drive, to be auctioned off in two weeks. mint condition all ways sheaded, What would this tractor be worth. I have a feeling it could go real cheap. Kansas

Jerri, I have alot of people ask to borrow or rent my tractor all the time, I allways tell them it's for rent but the operater comes with it. You would be suprized of the people that would pay to drive a compact tractor. That's my rule of thumb.

OK guy's, <br>My local hardware store owner asked me if it was possible to dig a trench 4"wide & 12" deep with my 855, and of course he wants a clean cut in the yard. does any one know how to build something that works without spending a bunch of money?<br>I live in a small town & knowone has a trencher to barrow or rent. any sugjestion's

I have a 6' air tunnel. blows the grass out of discharge shute. Does a nice job. A rear discharge will throw the grass out the back, each blade discharges it's own clippings, so the clippings don't travel all the way to one side of the mower. If I ever buy a new one it will be a rear discharge, but that's me.

In my area, snow don't usally get very deep. my front blade works very well and fast.8" or less is the most we get at once, normally 3" to 6". If it was deeper like 12" or more I don't think a front blade would be the tool of choice since it would push it over the top of the blade.
