i have bought a worksaver brand posthole digger, works like the devil, have made about 400 holes for planting trees and such around the property finally wor out the cutting teeth, just a couple of bolts and the new ones are on, gearbox is a brute, i have been running it off a NH 1520 23hp tractor no problem. they have a web site with the various tools they make.

Steve, <br>I don't know if it's too late for any of the tractors you listed above. I am interested in either a L3010HST, a L3410HST,or a L4310HST in 4wd, R4 tires. Remote hydraulics would be nice, but not essential. I don't know much about this line of tractors. About what would freight cost from you to me in Carbondale, IL 62901? i have had a pto generator for about 6 months and would share these observations with you .<br>i have a generac 25kw unit with built in voltage and frequency meter. the frequency meter is in my opinion very important if you are going to run electronic equipment . since the motor is not voltage or frequency controlled you need to be able to evaluate this, motor pitch does not reliabley help you with the frequency. in other words you can not tell if the frequency changes by listening to the motor sounds. poor frequency is extremely hard on electronic equipment.<br>i have found in my particular case that i can set the frequency on 60.7 HZ with no load and will have plenty of power to start my 75 ft well pump (1hp) without dropping below 59HZ on startup. this is the largest motor i have. this is addition to the usual house hold load.<br> i have installed a transfer panel from gentran to safely handle the power output. this is very important to anyone planning on using a generator.<br>the other thing you might consider is that if your tractor is powering your generator you cant use it for other things like clearing snow, etc.<br>all in all i am happy with the generac, very well built unit. weighs about 535 lbs without the trailor. <br>hope this helps<br>al

Ben,<br>I have been shopping for a compact tractor & have benefited from reading this site's messages. I like the JD 4300 & 4400, but am worried about all the design problems I've read here. What is your experience w/the units you've sold? Do you know of any design changes JD will make in the future? My past experience w/first year model cars has been to wait until the second year so the bugs can be worked out. I'm inlcined to do the same here.<br>I would appreciate any feedback.

northern has a small one for sale, i think 8kw for pto hookup.<br>the two things you need to know about pto generators are frequency and <br>voltage control. mine has a freq. and volt meter built into the genset.<br>the freq. meter you can see from the tractor seat so you can adjust the throttle<br>befor you get off the tractor. you cant rely on the pitch of the motor sound to help you regulate the voltage and frequency, so if the genset you buy does not have a freq. meter then you need to get one. harbor freight sells some multimeters for $9-$50 with the freq. reading capability built in that you could use to check the frequency under load.<br>my experience has been that if you set the frequency for about 60.6HZ before applying load then you dont seem to fluctuate much below 60HZ when i apply full load. i have a 25KW generac connected to a NH 1520.since i only have about 19 pto hp i dont get the full 25kw from the set. you get about 1kw per 2hp.<br>good luck<br>al

there are two ways to do the job, air powered tools are very usefull and will do the job with minimum sweat, take it from me i have done this job for 13yrs on both a bolens 17hp tractor and my NH 1520. <br>the other option is to use a set of car ramps and sharpen the blades on the tractor without removing them, i have not tried this, just heard of it.use it at your own risk.<br>the air compressor and impact wrench are the easiest, and you can balance the blades when you have them off, i use anti-sieze compound on the bolts when i put them back on, they come off much easier the next time. you can also use the air compressor for blowing the grass and dust off the tractor and inflating tires etc...<br><br>good luck<br>al

i figure you bought one of the winco generators for your tractor, they use a keyed input on the generator. do yoou have a keyed shaft on your tractor? most are splined shafts.<br>winco makes an adaptor for a keyed to splined shaft pto shaft, you can get it from northern hydraulics, cost about $50

Joe<br>Ordered my 4300 with HST and 4300 loader on May 5th and was told that it would be 45 - 60 days for delivery. I stopped into the dealter yesterday (June 15) and he advised that I am still scheduled to receive the unit in that time frame. He did say that the company is not giving any time frame on units that are ordered now. My dealer is in NE PA. and has been around for 23 years, and has an excellent reputation. Tis is my first time dealing with him, so I guess I will find out first hand. After looking at al the other options, I decided that it was worth waiting for the 4300, as it fit the bill for me.<br>

my dealer offered me a trade-in on my 1520 with 5ft belly mower and 6000 for a new td33d boomer and mower he would adapt my loader to fit the boomer.<br>i think you are getting a good deal, my tractor has 200 hrs on it. good rubber,<br>

i have a pto gen. made by generac. this is a heavy duty unit, rated at 25Kw. my tractor will only output about 10KW. these units are used a lot by farmers in this area, they swear by them, not at them. there are some things you need to know about these units, mine has a built in frequency meter and voltmeter, so that the throttle can be adjusted properly, if you use one of these be sure to observe voltage and frequency output, low voltage and low frequency can be detrimental to your electronic equipment. if you buy one without the meters, you can get a multimeter that reads volts and freq. from harbor freight for about $30. mine weighs 535lbs without the trailor. the operating manual states it should be bolted down to a slab or to a wide axeled trailor so it does not flip over when load is applied to the generator. i9 did not want to service another motor, and if i upgrade my tractor i can increase my gen. output, you get about 1KW for each 2 pto hp. if you need to know more e-mail me.

i have a belly mower on my NH 1520 goes on fairly easily, i only take it off once a year,in the fall, put it on in the spring. gives a good cut .<br>i have a 3pt rotary cutter, it goes on pretty easy a couple times a year, keep some blocks under the front edges of the mower, i use 2 bricks on each side, this allows you to get it hooked up easily, i like toe belly mower because of the short turning radius. the drive shaft is the hardest thing to hook up, harder than the 3pt.
