Michael.<br>You might get a real jump start on you search for info concerning the type and and size tractor you'll need on your building site if you'll check out this website.http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/kb13/TF_home.htm#anchor468135<br>After you surf that site,come on back and ask a bunch of questions. :)<br>As far as whice soil amendments you'll need to add,(organics/inorganics)for the purpose of building and maintaining the soil will depend largely on the type and condition the soil is in and what the soil PH factor is.<br>I personally like tilling in composted leaves and grass clippings. Old straw and manure work great too..But unless you have trees and save the grass clipping or have animal bedding/manure on site or close by, the organics might not work out for your site <br>I suggest you pick up bagged leaves in wooed areas of town next fall and haul them to your site and mix the yard clipping you can save with them and start a compost pile<br>This is kind of like work..<br>have fun<br>Skillet

What kind of budget are you working with? If around the figure you quoted for the Kubota "B," then you will likely have trouble finding a decent heavier unit for that price. If correct, you might want to consider a Ford 8N or similar John Deere or Massey units. There are alot of units of that era and much more recent to be had for that price. If you go that route, you wont get live pto nor fwd.
If you are looking for those two features and maybe a loader, around here there also seems to be ALOT of more recent Fords/New Hollands around that price range.

I have a Sims cab on my Deutz-Allis with the heater and am very satisfied with both the quality of the cab, it's fit, ease of installation and removal, warmth, and visibility. I would recommend Sims.

If you purchase the 14 ac pasture you'll kick yourself for buying the lawn mower. It will not pick up a round bale of hay, not to mention running your Binford 6000 bushhog. I know a lot of people who mow with a 40+ horse tractor. If you stick with 5 acres get a lawn mower; if you buy the additional acres, get a real tractor. Make that decision first.

I wound up with a Kubota B2150,Hydro, turf tires,<br> woods loader, and a 6 ft rear blade from TSC.<p>The turfs work ok if the snow isn't to heavy or icy. <br>I would strongly reccomend the chains with the turfs.<p>The neighbor I mentioned has a 955 JD,hydro , turfs,<br>loader 6 ft blade and chains.<p>Both of the units seem to work equally as well with the <br>exception of the chains which were recently added to the JD.<p>get a blade slightly wider (6

The loader capacity for the JD4100 and the Kubota B2100 are nearly identical. (JD 665lbs, Kubota 660lbs) Both tractors offer some very nice full size features in a compact package. I looked hard at both, but decided the B2100 was the best for my applications. <br>

If you don't want to spend alot of money taking it to a dealer and getting the tractor fixed, I recommend getting a Pto overrunning clutch that just slips on to your Pto shaft and then you put the pto shaft of your implement on the shaft of the clutch. They made these for the tractors that do not have live power like the Ford 8n's.<br>

I live in S.E. Michigan and got about the same exact quotes.<p>The dealers really did not seem to know what was going on with <br>the compact line. A couple of them did not even know what a<br>TC was when I called to price them after reading about them here.<br>I think they may still be trying to sell the 1530 and 1630, I here<br>the new TC's were supposed to be lower in price.
