Does anyone know if Kubota plans on introducing a clutchless CUT? If anyone has tested the new JD 4000 series you can appreciate the ease of use of this type of technology. Frankly, I am sick and tired of having to stop to shift my pto on or change to h or l range...hey in addtion Kubota should redesign the darn loader lever on the side out of the way were it belongs.

Pins are normally located in such a way as to prevent damage. Unfortunately this also means a lot of fiddling around to get them all greased too.

I would be very surprised if there was not a grease fitting on those pins, try rotating the bucket and see if they are not just tucked around the back somewhere. On some of the bigger machines they are recessed in the ends of the pins so that access is easier and they are not as exposed to damage.

Any pins that are too difficult to reach should be replaced with 45 or 90 deg. types so as to allow regular greasing.

The New Holland Technical Rep, after two months, look at the broke tractor. He said New Holland would not help on repair because the tractor was out of warranty. I would be very concerned if I had one of these tractors with a FEL. I will not use the FEL for anything until I can trade this for another brand. Repair bill $3550.

Thanks so much for everyone's responses.

Since our property is still pretty wooded which will require lots of stop and go and obstacle course driving I think I'm going for the hydro transmission. The dealer we are talking to says he can get that for $1000 more. I'm slowly inching past my budget but I plan on keeping this thing for the next 20 years (I hope) so I figure I should spend the extra bucks now.

Bad news, sounds like a trip to the dealer will be necessary. If you want to fix it yourself you'll probably need to buy parts and service manuals and try to figure out where those O-rings came from.

I've had this problem 2 or 3 times in the last 2 years. Definitely bleed the fuel line at the hose from the fuel tank to the 1st fuel filter. Bet you'll find moisture. Then change both fuel filters. Should run like a top then.

Try any Jinma Dealer. See a partial list below. The stabilizer bars are used on newer Jinmas. Earlier ones, like my 284, use chains with turn buckles. Alternatly, you could go to TSC or other tractor supply and get "generic" turn buckle chains. Just may need to mod it to the right length. The bars are easier to set-up, just pins, vs the turn-buckle can be finer adjusted.

Hardwood, I just now looked at the Land Pride QH on the net... looks the top hook on the Land Pride version will also be too tall to go under the upper ballast box pin. If ya get a chance, let me know how tall your upper hook is on the Land Pride QH.

From the top of the JD ballast box to the center of the upper pin is 2 5/8" the upper hook on the JD i-match hitch is 4" tall... no way it can fit under.

One of the quirks in the canadian system is that pensions, registered retirement funds and life insurance is untouchable, even in the case of bankruptcy. In fact the very first thing most self-employed people up here do when they get a bit of money do is buy a BIG pre-paid 'whole life' policy, that way they basically have a fat savings account that can't be touched.

It takes an Act passed in Parliament to touch them.

Just a quick "howdy" as I'm new to this forum.<br>
I have a TC33D with a 7308 FEL that I purchased new in the fall of 2002 and to this point I am very satisfied with it's performance. I purchased a Woods 5' brush hog and have cleared off an old 10 acre hay field that I'd like to keep mowed as yard/play area. I've been mowing the field with the hog but have been interested in the mid mower for mowing around the house and I'm wonderering how well it might work to maintain the field? Keep in mind that I've removed all the rocks but the terrain is far from smooth and not golf course quality. I didn't want to make the investment if I'm just going to damage it.<br>

Thanks, Murf! That's good information. Since all the stuff we chip is freshly cut (with some deadwood) it sounds like sharpening them at the start of each season should work just fine.

Make sure you know what you want to do and what implements you will need to accomplish it. The BX series subcompacts are nice machines, but are limited in their 3-point applications. I would agree with the previous post. I would think you would be happier with the B-Series.

A minor variation on Frank's comment: On virtually all reasonably modern tractors live and independent mean the same thing and they are different than TX driven PTO's. Live means the PTO is powered separate from the TX clutch and independent means the drives share no common components. The terminology applies mostly to gear TX tractors since HST tractors have independent PTO almost by definition. My mid-80's Ford uses a 2-stage clutch that technically qualifies as live but not independent. A few old farm tractors had separate TX and PTO clutch pedals, which is likely where the term independent arose but the practical difference between the two is immaterial.

The only drawback of TX driven PTO's is that they slow down when the TX is clutched. That's a minor problem most times but it can lead to uneven mowing and clogged snow-blower chutes. Some old TX driven PTO's when used with heavy mowers would continue to drive the tractor forward even when the TX clutch was disengaged. Virtually all modern TX driven PTO's eliminate that problem by having an internal over-running clutch.
