I think when someone refers to a 4-in-1, he's talking about the bucket, rather than the whole loader. They're also sometimes (perhaps erroneously) called a "clam shell". In other words, it's not a solid bucket, but one on which you can open the back end, use it as a bucket, or a blade, or to clamp onto something like logs.

I have a question on the use of tire chains on a MFWD tractor. Does anybody know where you can or can't put tire chains. Common sense tells me that it is OK to put chains on all 4 tires and / or chains on just the rear tires. So what I am trying to learn is. Is it acceptable and safe to put chains on just the front tires ? Or will this create problems for the tractor. I am thinking ahead for Winter. YECH !! Thanks, Mark<br>

you should clean the grease off. These tractors do not come with grease and should not have it on there. you are right it will attract dirt and cause this to operate poorly.

Well I like the JD I have a JD650. its also made by Yanmar, but it did not come in JD green as a Yanmar Tractor, so I bought the JD version and I am much happier for it. Imangine the thrill of telling your neighbors you have a JOHN DEERE TRACTOR instead of a sissy Yanmar. Not to mention that JD has a lot more goodies to buy, like JD hats, shoes, gloves, blankets, and even underware. what does Yanmar have to offer....nothing. Not to mention Yanmar sounds kinda Girlie...:) all in jest... except for the John Deere part.

Vincent, your belly mower and backhoe subframe incompatibility is very common. I'm not badmouthing other brands here, but one of the reasons I bought a JD4400 was that the 48 backhoe was compatible with the belly mower. The Deere 4000 series were the only new tractors I could find in which the frame-mounted hoe was compatible with a belly mower. A potential buyer should be aware of this if it is an important consideration for them.

I have a old german hanomag diesel about 30 hp, I am looking for a generator I can hook up to it using a close couple, I want to run at 1800 rpm and be able to produce about 15KW continious. I have build a fly wheel adapter with a 1.25 shaft to accept a keyed close couple. but need a good source for the generator. I have looked at the Northern Catolog with no luck, can someone make a suggestion as to where I can look?<br>Matt

I am thinking about buying a L3000DT with a loader. The LB400 and LA450<br>seem to have almost the same specs, only one is more expensive and<br>one is less and classed as light duty. Does anyone know the difference<br>bettween these two and what the LA450 can do that the LB400 cant?<br>

Loryn, I looked briefly at one. From what I found, it was made by Mitsubishi and is considered a good unit. I think parts are available.

Matt, I like my JD 755 for the same reason, it is very compact. Sometimes a bigger tractor would be better, but I tried a big old Ford and it just couldn't fit anywhere.

Amen to the seatbelt/rops system. I live in W Va and wouldn't be without it. I have survived to age 50 only because i was luckier than some of the farmers i hav seen as a paramedic. Use the system!!

Since the dealer would not budge off his $7000 asking price I have deceided to pass on this tractor. I also got a quote from him on the new B7500DT(gear model) w/ loader for $13,800 which is much more than I expected. I think it's time I looked for a differend dealer! Thanks for all you input.
