Its been my understanding that the JD 650 was built by Yanmar for John Deere, is this correct? If so what model Yanmar was it? or did they just produce the engine. I love my 650Matt

Yes the 650 is a Yanmar, built to JD specs. Other than the engine, I don't know that it equates to any specific model of Yanmar, but I could be wrong on that. I've been well-pleased for the last 13 years with my '88 750, which is also a Yanmar. Rugged little tractor, haven't put a nickle into it beyond oil and filter changes, and one battery. ....
