James I'm going through the same battle the TC-33D has 800LBS lift at bucket
The TC-35D has 1800LBS thats a heck of a difference I priced both packages the TC-33D is 19,863 w/ 7308 loader , 914A 72" rear discharge mid mount mower and 5 ft rear blade best price.
The TC-35D is 22,849 w/ 16LA loader , 914A 84" mid mount and 6 ft back blade
I'm still haggling on the TC-35D it's a much better but also much bigger tractor I was surprised at how much bigger physically and storage becomes a factor for me. hope that was helpful , Eric

Joe,I have same situation.I haul my 4300 loader and backhoe.I live in West Virginia and if you have an accident the 1st thing the INS. wants to know is; the trailier made to carry that much weight, does it have breaks on all 4 wheels,and is the vehicle made to pull that much weight.My 2 pennys ken

I asked a similar question not too awfully long ago to this same group...and let me say, I am very glad that I payed a local fellow to cut in my 1000' through-the-woods roadway. He will be returning this spring to dig my 1000' electic line trench, footer trenches, etc. If I tried to do the work myself, I would STILL be working on the road. Not only are the smaller machines slower...the skill of the operator makes all the difference. I had never been on a tractor before...and while I like to think I learn quickly and have become somewhat proficient, I still watch experienced operators with a big smile. It was so nice to walk through the woods and say "Well, I kinda thought I'd cut the road in over here like this...and start a turn here like that..." 13 hours (and $650) later, his "small" JD 350 dozer had the roadway cut in. And that includes removing about 100 stumps...albeit mostly 8-10" oak/maple. Installed 5 sluice pipes for drainage with his TLB and then trucked in 40 loads of "creek gravel" for a road base.

I'd recommend leaving all the "heavy" work to the larger machines, unless you truly have a lot of time on your hands. Yes, it does sound sacriligious. I thought so as well. Sounds like you might still need the 850 for road maintainence, snow removal, and other building related work.

Yep, I'd still be pulling stumps! :)

Hey Cutter, you wont regret getting a Morton, just dont believe everything
they tell you on the video. When choosing a height, don't forget morton's
vaulted trusses allow higher doors on the ends of the builings than on the
sides, for example you can drive a 13' foot truck through the middle of a
12' building. Also, doors on the ends are less expensive than on the sides
because you wont need load bearing headers.

Just for clarification, I purchased the TC35D, not the 40 model. However, the TC35/40 /45 are all based around the same chassis. You said the dealer was at 17,300 for a TC33D. For less than $2,000 the larger chassis is really nice if you can justify the size for storage and the job to be done. The acreage a person owns is not the primary determiner in sizing a tractor. It should really be based on the jobs to be done. If you stay with the TC33D make sure you leverage thehell outta the deal: 1. get a discount on all implements purchased now and over the next 12 months 2. New Holland Finance offers % interest for 1 year on all things purchased 3. get a hat

Tony, You didn't mention if it was 2 or 4wd? I will assume 2wd with an $8K asking price. For comparison, about 2 years ago I purchased an early model 2wd JD-950 w/75 loader w/power steering and just over 1500+ hours for alittle over $7,000. The tractor had been stored inside most of the time and I would rate it in good to excellent shape. Hope this info. helps and good luck with the purchase. Regards mark

To bad about the dealer in your area. Mine is 15 miles a way and excellent. I wasn't sure about the Cub's before I bought this one but knew the dealer was a good one so I decided to get it. I have gotten the manuals and just some filters from them, but the parts people are great. They have to spend a little more time looking because they don't sell the Cub compacts only the Boomers new there. Goes to show you how important a good dealer is.

Happy to hear that I'm not the only one who heard of tread print readings but couldn't see anything useful. My 1710 doesn't seem to have wind up problems now, but a former owner might have. The 4wd linkage was bent and had a broken pin that had to be repaired this summer. I've heard of people who do have wind up problems lifting the front wheels with the loader before engaging or disengaging the 4wd. It works, but fixing the problem seems a better approach.

Funny thing, I got the tractor back from the shop from the 4wd repair and checked tire pressures a few days later, The front tires pegged my 20# gauge. Guess the mechanics thought I should run a lot more pressure than I do. I let a bunch out.

I helped a friend do some tire pressure juggling in the late 60's, but not on tractors. He had a SCCA novice racing license and used to enter autocrosses sometimes. He'd put on racing slicks and then roar around the course parking lot skidding the car. We'd adjust the front and rear pressures to get the right degree of over-steer for the course. Maybe radial tires have changed the practice, but racecar drivers use tire pressure to adjust traction as well as tractor owners.

Don't know what type of tillers you are refering to but I just purchased a Bush Hog 72" tiller to put behind a NH 35hp tractor. I rented many tractors, all with tillers prior to my decision. Most of the tillers were 60" being run by a 26 - 30hp tractor. This larger one I purchased has no problems being behind the 35hp tractor. I live in North TX where the ground is incredibly hard. Usually I reserve tilling after a rain regardless of hp or width of tiller. so far so good with 15 hours on the tiller.

I just purchased a new TC35D, hydro, loader, 4WD, R4 tires, ROPS, but NO SS (don't miss it) for $19,000. I voluntered 50% down and financed the rest with New Holland finance for 1 year at 0%. I could have financed the entire thing at 0% but it gave me a little leverage. I think there was a little more room in the deal but I want to have good service and relations with the dealer and didn't want to be know as the small tightass farmer. I got a BushHog 72" tiller for $1,500 and will go back and get a BushHog box blade later this month and will pay between $424 - 475 (a fair price with them still making money of the list of %550).

I've tilled gardens for 4 or 5 other people, but there's no market for it in my area. Nearly anyone who has a garden also has a tractor and/or a walk behind tiller.

Well, I thought I would get back to everyone with my info regarding Great Bend loaders. I have a great JD dealer. He made a trip to my house today with a JD4100 with a Great Bend loader installed (he trailered it 125 miles) so that I could see the install and test performance. The GB220 loader is very well constructed and works well with the 4100. Construction seems very durable, lift and dump times are fast. Fits quite well on the tractor too-doesn't seem like the mismatch I have observed on other aftermarket loaders. BUT, LOOKS LIKE I WILL BE BUYING A JD 410 LOADER INSTEAD, EVEN IF IT DOES COST $600 MORE. MAJOR BUMMER- THE GREAT BEND SUBFRAME MOUNTS TO THE SAME FRAME LOCATION AS MY MID-MOUNT MOWER LINKAGE AND IT IS SIMPLY INCOMPATABLE WITH THE MOWER. I don't mind removing the loader to install the mower deck, but I'm not going to pull the subframe and retorque bolts every time I need to switch. The 410 loader can actually be used along with the mower deck installed (not that I would do this-but the subframe is compatable with the mower set-up). For anyone who doesn't need to use a mid-mount mower, I would recommend the GB loader as a very suitable and economical loader choice.

Just another twist to this other than the price difference, see how much a dealer will allow you for resale on that tractor just by the description. You might find that the lower price might not be quite enough of a discount as the straight gear drives are not the best sellers in a lot of the country.

Ya, I think Johnny ended up with a 54,55,56,57....Cadillac. You might have a hard time getting the loader bucket in your lunch pail though. You are right, sending the 6% sales tax down a rat hole takes some of the fun outta buying a tractor. The prices are high enough without that. As a matter of fact, it made me decide to become an official 'farmer'. I have a few acres and couple cows. Not only did I save the sales tax, the accountant says I can deduct all sorts of things. Fuel, tools, gloves, etc. I am going to lose money like all the other farmers do. It's almost like getting a raise. But back to the tractor issues, I opted for the larger, TC40D as I needed, er wanted a bit larger unit for my 'farm'. Got it with a FEL and a used 3pt hoe. It cost way more than I was planning to spend but so far, I have had lots of fun scraping snow. I use low range with the throttle barely above idle so I don't get done too quickly. Can't wait til spring. Anyway, I've gotten way off the topic but if you're interested in the other reasons I ended up at the TC40D, we can start a new thread. Good luck with your contemplations... I think even if the ramp support was at the hinged point, this would still happen. If the ramp support would extend under the rear of the trailer, here I go again, I think this would solve the problem. Thanks to you all

I also have the Allied 195 and so far have been satisfied with it.One feather i would like to have,that i've seen on other loaders,is when your at the end of the dump cycle you can slap the bucket to remove stuck materal.I was wondering if this could be added on an aftermarket basis?
