Thanks all for your helpful postings. Ended up at $15500 & 3200 for loader with hd bucket. Went with local dlr with excellent service track record & "glowing" customer service reports. Worth a little more for the peace of mind---Mike

Are you still happy about your Boomer? Was it a 4 wheel drive? If it is, that is the best price I've seen. I'm getting goofey about pricing and wander what your location is. It seems that the Michigan prices are truly for the Boomers, rich ones that is. ....

What part of Michigan are you in? I just purchased a TC40D and my pricing seemed very comparable with other CTB posters. Service has been great too! In addition, the Case DX models are now at the local Dealers. The red ones look pretty sharp. Have you checked prices on these? I'm still partial to the Blue ones but am curious about the pricing for an identical tractor in a different color. Anyone else checked prices on the Red Boomers? ....

I am between Ann Arbor and Dexter in Southeast MI. I wonder if I could go work in the Boomer factory in GA and take home a peice at a time. Didn't Johnny Cash write a song about that? It probably is a good time to checkout the "RED" Boomer. At least the Boomer's primary drive train components are still being made in Japan by Shiboura(spelling?) and shipped to the Boomers factory in GA.
I think the problem is me, I'm struggling with spending that much money. Every tractor I have owned has been purchased used and no sales tax. Cripes, the tax alone is $1000.00 on top of the purchase price. Unfortunately the used machines are hard to come by and right up there in price anyway. Hey this is starting to sound like a Dear Abbey letter. I think I'll go walk it off! ....

Ya, I think Johnny ended up with a 54,55,56,57....Cadillac. You might have a hard time getting the loader bucket in your lunch pail though. You are right, sending the 6% sales tax down a rat hole takes some of the fun outta buying a tractor. The prices are high enough without that. As a matter of fact, it made me decide to become an official 'farmer'. I have a few acres and couple cows. Not only did I save the sales tax, the accountant says I can deduct all sorts of things. Fuel, tools, gloves, etc. I am going to lose money like all the other farmers do. It's almost like getting a raise. But back to the tractor issues, I opted for the larger, TC40D as I needed, er wanted a bit larger unit for my 'farm'. Got it with a FEL and a used 3pt hoe. It cost way more than I was planning to spend but so far, I have had lots of fun scraping snow. I use low range with the throttle barely above idle so I don't get done too quickly. Can't wait til spring. Anyway, I've gotten way off the topic but if you're interested in the other reasons I ended up at the TC40D, we can start a new thread. Good luck with your contemplations...
