A local has been trying to sell his 30B industrial with no luck. It has a Perkins (I think) 4 cylinder diesel, hydro tranny, power steering, ROPS, Massey's rugged industrial loader, plus a six foot Gannon box blade and ripper with hydraulic tilt and level. It looks rough, everything is loose.... but it runs and works nicely. Everyone in town has used and abused it for years and it still gets right along. In high range it has a higher road gear than most Ag tractors. He has had to rebuild the motor several times because people using it for mowing have clogged the radiator and overheated it. Typical rebuilds run into the several thousands of dollars - and can go double that. The "20" was available in gasoline, don't know about the 30. Yes, this one has a 3pt and independent PTO. Not all did. I've shown it to a lot of guys who were tractor hunting because I like it....it is very low to the ground and heavily built. But most think it is ugly. I think it is beautiful. To each his own. It is much more suited for excavation than mowing a yard....Last Summer he was asking $6500.

Thanks for the replys. The certainly do more to confirm my thoughts. I'm too am very dismayed by a Ford dealer trying to sell such 'snake oil'. It is unfortunate as the rest of my experience almost totally enjoyable and I got a great price on the truck. I can't decide if I should send a letter to the dealer or also to Ford.

By the way, this product was definitely not endorsed by Ford as I couldn't even find a street address or internet address on the brochure. Everything endorsed by Ford has the logo all over it. I guess that should have been the first sign.

Another by the way, along with the undercoating and fabric treatment. They were trying to sell spray in bed liners for $200 over what you can get them installed by calling the vendor (LINE-X) direct. I'm having mine installed tomorrow, at the lower price.

Hey fellas, I'm looking at buying a Kubota L2500 (DT?)4wd that has an LA 450S loader on it. It has 143 hours on the meter. The guy selling it told me that it was a 1999 year model, and right now he's asking $11,800.00 for it. It doesn't appear to have been abused. <br>OK deal or not? I'd be using it for loading dirt, barnyard clean-up, etc., along with some rough mowing, tilling, etc.<br> I'm sort of new at this tractor-buying thing; any advice would be welcomed.

Regarding the PTO: The midmount and rear PTOs are separately controlled. Don't have a belly mower for my TC40D but my dealer told me that they always hook to the midmount PTO. NH belly mowers are not known for being the easiest to remove and put back on, but then it seems that most belly mowers are a pain to remove and put back on...

Farmer Wannabe, if you're talking about the cylinder rods (only thing I can think of from your description), my manual mentions "storing" the loader and says to coat all exposed rods and pins with grease. I'm not sure how long you have to leave it to qualify as "storing."

I have the same setup as Chris in IN - JD48 on a 4400. In fact, we collaborated knowledge when we were making our purchases. I resonate on the good stuff said about the JD48, especially when I consider that this is an add-on hoe to an all-purpose tractor. I have an 18" bucket and have no problem with it even in the glacial rock-embedded clay I deal with. I think the axle/frame mount is excellent in that it gives stability and strength, while still allowing for a mid-mower. I have been extremely happy with the capabilities and features of this hoe. That said, here are wish list items based on my use of this and other small TLB's and mini-excavators: I wish the hydraulic controls and spools were higher-quality on the JD48 in that I get some bypass at times. (boom drops slightly over time, stabilizers drop a little when parked, etc.) I loved the auto-return feature on a Kubota B-20 I used a couple years ago. This would bring the boom back to where you started when swinging the boom. It took an act of faith to trust it at first, but it worked fine. I think having the capability to add a grapple hook or thumb would be fantastic.

In central NY where we are the snow might stay for a while before it melts and that acumulation is what gets us. In my drive way if I plowed with a blade I would have had to have a payloader come in to move the banks back by now and normally it would be about three tomes a year. I can blow it out and the banks don't ever get very high and I don't need to push he snow back. When the wind blows here it will fill to the top of the banks and with out them I have less to move to begin with. Yes I do like front snowblowers best but any snowblower in my world is better than a blade even though I have a crik in my neck from looking back.

Ed, if your dealer is a Cub Cadet dealer you can demand both the stand and its securing pin. Any Cub dealer can order a replacement. Under the agreement Cub Cadet has with its dealers, it is the responsibility of the dealer to sell Cub Cadet products in a SAFE condition, even used, and to notify the customer in writing if the product being sold is defective, or is unsafe, and to explain the nature of the defect. Seems to me, letting you hang by thinking that the SAFE way to remove your loader is to use a hoist, when a stand was provided, is an open invitation to a law suit. A lawyer would have a field day with this as this kind of safety issue sends ripples through your dealer, Cub Cadet, MTD, Woods, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, your State, and the Feds. Pony up some moxey and suggest to your dealer that there is more at stake here than just the hassle and cost of ordering a few parts. By the way, Woods makes the loader and includes numerous safety decals, one of which explains how to set-up your loader stand. Woods is an excellent manufacturer that has your safety foremost in their minds, if you don't get anywhere with dealer san, then try Woods, or your family lawyer. Get smart, don't let yourself be taken advantage of.

Just talked with the guy I'm buying the tractor from and he told me that he just seviced it 16 hrs ago. The only thing he said he did not do was change the hydro filter-(doesn't call for it at this time). He said to go ahead and do it if I wanted to waste my money but it was not needed. I don't see how he would have any reason to hide anything because this would be done after the tractor has been paid for and picked up. I've got to thinking more about this and have change my mind. I'll save the $189.00 and just to be on the safe side change the hydro trans filter anyway. After all the mechanic checked out the tractor and said it was in perfect running condition.

I have a Kubota 52" rear mount blower on my 1994 Case-IH 1120 FWD and it has been a super blower. I did have an oil leak in the gearbox after ten years (came off the Allis I had before) and had a little trouble matching oil specs in the manual with those avil here. Sent an e-mail to Kubota in Osaka and got the information I needed quick! This also has the hydraulic piston powered by my factory rear valves to spin the chute. I can't say enough about the quality of Kubota blowers. The next Harvester I buy will have a blower on the front so I don't have to custom fit a sheet of plexi-glass and industrial velcro to the back of my ROPS. Keep it all KUBOTA!

You should be able to get a replacement 12 volt sealed lamp for the light fixture. I did this when I converted my Farmall H from 6 volt to 12 volt.

I would agree about buying from a dealer close by or one you have trust in. I have a '78 B7100 hst w/4WD and 485 hrs. I am interested in a snow blower 2-stage for this tractor. If none are available then I would be interested in alternatives.I currently blow snow off my clinic parking lot for 30 cars. I have been doing that quite successively with this tractor. For better snowblowing I would like a 2 stage now( back in '78 only a single stage 48" model was available. I'm also a little older and i'm thinking of a cab. Am I gentleman farmer??? I also do the snow for my neighbors and myself at home ( a few blocks away). By the way are you a brother to Paul?? I worked with him years ago in Detroit and he always mentioned your dealership!

TomG, I need to confess. My wife knows a blower is needed. Our driveway isn't very large, but is situated such that there is little place to push the snow. I guess I'm really saying that I need to justify it to myself ;-) I still look at the prices of the walk behinds that I would have gotten and realize that I paid maybe $100 for a device that is more than twice as wide. It was a great deal. Deb knows I get the things that I really need. I want so many things that all I can afford are the ones with the most value to me/us :)

I'll give the explanationa a try.
Picture the upper cylinder mount for bucket curl not welded to the booms but instead being pinned to the booms so it can pivot. Then, a rod from that mount back to the upright masts. This way as the loader raises the rear rod hold the cylinder mount in the same relative position with respect to the upright masts. It is similar to a double wishbone suspension keeping the wheels of a car perpendicular with respect to the frame.
