CARY, North Carolina (February 25, 2014) – John Deere introduces the 4M and 4R Series compact utility tractors for homeowners and landscape contractors who are looking to do more than mow grass. Six, stylish models (4044M, 4052M, 4066M, 4044R, 4052R, 4066R) make up the family and provide operators the uptime, performance, comfort and convenience needed for various tasks, including loading, mowing, and digging.<br>
<br>
"With compact utility tractors, it's all about finding the right machine to match customer needs," said Scott Schadler, John Deere product marketing manager. "Customers told us they wanted to spend less time installing and removing implements, wanted the ability to carry and store more tools, desired a more comfortable ride, and requested the ability to work in low-light conditions."<br>
<br>
The 4M and 4R models feature powerful, Final Tier 4 engines ranging from 43 to 66 hp to power through tough tasks. The 4M machines are equipped with a hydrostatic transmission with Twin Touch Pedals that provide operators with simple, comfortable-to-use hydrostatic controls to find the right speed for the job at hand. It's as simple as pressing a single foot pedal to go forward and another foot pedal to go in reverse. A power reverser transmission on the 4R Series slows the transmission down when the operator uses the forward or reverse control function. No need to use the clutch to change direction. Four-wheel drive comes standard on all 4M and 4R CUTs for tough applications and harsh ground conditions.<br>

The 4M tractors are designed for customers looking for an affordable and easy-to-use machine. The operator station features a flat floor, ergonomic controls, and a fully-independent PTO. Hydraulic options are available for those customers who are interested in using attachments. Optional wheel spacers provide 11 inches of additional room on the axle, and are ideal when the tractor is used on inclines or slopes.<br>

The 4R tractors boast Hitch Assist, which enables fast and easy implement attachment. This function eliminates the need to go back and forth from the seat to the hitch. The operator can simply control the tractor and hitch while standing behind the machine.<br>
<br>
Customers also requested additional tool storage and John Deere responded with a center console storage area and a left hand fender tool compartment on the R Series. A deluxe seat on the 4R models can swivel 15 degrees to either side and provides greater comfort and less fatigue when operating rear implements. The swivel feature also allows the operator to easily get in and out of the seat. The additions of premium work lights allow for longer work hours and are easily installed on the ROPS.<br>

An optional downforce kit for 4R tractors is switch actuated and extremely useful for posthole digging and tillage. Like the 4M models, optional wheel spacers provide 11 inches of additional width and are ideal when the tractor is used on inclines or slopes.<br>
<br>
All 4R models feature integrated hydrostatic transmission controls on a single panel. Operators can easily select eThrottle™ that matches engine RPM to hydrostat pedal position, LoadMatch™ to automatically adjusts engine-speed based on load, MotionMatch™ to adjust the responsiveness of the transmission, and SpeedMatch™ to enable automotive-style cruise control.<br>

John Deere is also launching several new implements to keep operators up and running, no matter what the task. These implements include the D170 Loader, H180 Loader, and 485A Backhoe. The D170 Loader is both 4M and 4R compatible and is a factory-installed option on the 4M. It serves as an economical solution for customers who don't need to remove the loader. The H180 is 4R compatible and features a self-leveling option and a Quik-Park™ mounting system that allows for removal/mounting without the need of tools. The 485A Backhoe can be installed in five minutes and is the perfect compliment to an excavation job.<br>
<br>
All 4 Family tractors come standard with an open operator station. An optional ComfortGard™ Cab is available on the 4044R HST, 4052R HST and 4066R HST tractors. The tightly sealed cab keeps out dust and clippings, as well as microscopic allergens while featuring climate control for year-round comfort. The cab also enables 360-degree views with forward work lights, front windshield wiper and an integrated radio antenna. <br>

As part of the alliance, ECHO and Shindaiwa will become the preferred brands of hand held outdoor power equipment within the Kubota dealer network. The alliance also names ECHO Bear Cat as a preferred brand of chippers, shredders, log splitters and wheeled trimmers within the Kubota dealer network.<br>
According to Todd Stucke, Kubota Vice President of Agriculture and Turf Equipment, the Kubota dealer network includes over 1,100 sales and service locations. I have to agree with greyhorse, hiring a lawyer is a big buck deal. The legal expenses will mount up fast and that's not guaranteeing you will win the case.
I can't defend the contractor for missing the nailers. If the nailers were 2 X 4's on edge it is easy to miss unless you snap a chalk line.
Is all the roof leakage coming from screw holes from missed screws? My experience with metal roofs is not good. Of five pole type sheds built for me by contractors or myself over a 35 - 40 year period every one of them leaked. It was hard to define where they leaked, sometimes it was frost melting off the underside of the metal when the sun warmed it up. Other times they would leak during a rain and follow the underside of the steel down a ways before it dripped or ran off. I finally gave up on steel roofs so the last two sheds I built had a traditional shingle roof, they never leaked.

A simple test to see if the problem is the alternator is to check across the battery terminals for DC voltage.

Also check fuses.

Depends upon where/how you "adjusted the clutch arm". You may have done so at the expense of something else. The PTO for example, or the clutch release fingers. If they're making permanent contact with the throwout bearing now, you're looking at a more extensive clutch repair job in the future.<br>

These Chinese clutchpacks and linkages don't work like old Fords or Masseys or the like. The relationship between the components is such that there's a definite sequence to proper adjustment. When adjustments are made out of sequence, trouble usually follows.<br>

For all the reasons you are not interested in a 200plus horsepower ag tractor other then cost the hydro would be your best choice.

When looking for an economy tractor in a gear drive you might find some pto systems are not much different then the allis!

Neither system has been 100% on working when needed when they are not maintained. The slip clutch needs to be slipped which requires being loosened and run and the shear bolt needs to be removed and the shaft spun. We have seen gear box failures from both because of rust.

For the person that is going to be bush hogging his own property a shear bolt is fine. I find it rare that anyone would leave or ignore an obstacle that would do harm to a machine.

For those that go out and work the machine on different property, I highly recommend the slip clutch.

Might be one of those guys who buys up and consolidates "new" old stock from others who've gone out of business. Each FarmPro should have two dated labels; one on the tractor itself, the other on the engine. The tractor label is typically either mounted inside one of the rear fenders or alongside the transmission housing. The engine label is typically on the valve cover or on the side of the block. Date of manufacture is stamped on both, and don't be surprised if the dates don't match.

The 1st Annual Pickin’, Grinnin’, and Pullin’ Festival will take place March 14-15 at the Fairgrounds in Richmond, Kentucky. Presented by the Battle of the Bluegrass Pulling Series (BOB Series), this event has something for everyone. “This event is part of the 5th Annual Bluegrass Antique Super Pull, one of the largest Antique pulling events in the nation, and this year we have added a ton of prize money to the Antique pull, as well as having something for the Hillbilly in us all,” said BOB Series CEO, Tom McConnell. “The purpose of the event is for families to come out and have a good time, enjoy the pulling, the music, comedians, the wood carvers and great food.” This is an INDOOR pull and event. Pulling starts at noon each day!<br>

The Bluegrass Antique Super Pull is slated to possibly be the largest Antique pull in the nation for 2014. Pullers from across the nation have already committed to attending, some pullers coming from as far as Oklahoma, Minnesota, New York and all points between. The highlight of the Antique pull will be the “Baddest Antique Tractor in the World!” which will consist of two classes, the 5000 8MPH on Friday and the 6500 12MPH on Saturday. Both classes pay $500 to the winner. “A lot of Antique pullers make the claim that their tractor is the baddest, and we will find out who the Baddest of the Bad are on March 14 and 15,” commented McConnell. Over 1,000 hooks are expected during the two day pull.<br>

The Pickin’ will be provided by a ton of great music both days, as will the Grinnin’, with great country comedians taking to the stage both nights. On Friday and Saturday both, local musicians are welcomed to come out and join the Jam Sessions. “Just bring your guitar, banjo, mandolin, and join in and have a good time,” said McConnell.<br>

Music and Comedy acts will kick off at 5pm on Friday, with musicians and comedians, the Moron Brothers, kicking their show off at 6pm, followed by Jerry Lee Lewis-styled piano player Blair Carmen, doing great rockabilly and old time country music.<br>
On Saturday, the music will kick off with Shades of Grass at 2pm, followed later by Bluegrass 101 and local favorite, Southland Drive. Plus, direct from Mayberry, USA, is Barney Fife Impersonator, Sammy Sawyer, who will be arresting pullers who are cheating, as well as a comedy show later in the evening.<br>

My son just purchased 10 acres of rural property with a house, barn, sheds, and about 600 feet of gravel driveway to maintain. He's been looking at the new Kubota tractors, and he has his eye on the new L60 series.<br>

Kubota developed the HST-Plus hydro transmission for the L40 Grand series tractors. It's a very nice system, with many labor saving features. The new L60 series replaces the L40 Grand series tractors, and the new L60 series has even more features available.<br>
<br>
Kubota developed a fully automatic 4-point hitch system for the L60 tractors. You can drive up to your front mounted attachments and connect without leaving the cab. The front mounted snowblower can be attached from the operator's seat in less than 5 seconds. The PTO and all hydraulic connections are made from the driver's seat, completely out of the weather, while sitting in Kubota's fancy new cab.<br>
<br>
Kubota also introduced a fully automatic flail mower that utilizes the automatic hitch system.<br>
<br>
The new L60 series will do more than compete with the skidsteer lineups currently available. skidsteer tractors have always had the edge when it came to switching out implements in a hurry....but they lack severely when it comes to operator vision. <br>
<br>
Skidsteer tractors sit low to the ground, and are surrounded by a cage on three sides, making operator visibility difficult, at best. These shortcomings have been addressed in the new L60 series. The operator sits high above the implements being used, and the new cab offers superb visibility all around. The new 4-point automatic hitch provides faster implement changes than even a skidsteer tractor can offer.<br>
<br>
All of these features come at a steep price. The 4-point front mounted auto hitch is nearly 8000 dollars. Equipping an implement with the matching 4-point hookups will run another 1800 bucks. <br>
<br>
For the commercial operator, the ability to switch out implements in a hurry will be a great selling point. For those who currently run skidsteer tractors, the new L60 series cab will provide far more visibility, comfort, safety, and production.<br>
<br>
I don't know if you could justify the cost of the new L60 for what you do, but it wouldn't hurt to stop by your dealer and take that HST-plus transmission out for a test drive. I'm sure you'd like it......maybe even enough to spring for one? <br>
