I have a Roof VP75 high wheel field/brush mower and am looking for an owners manual on this model. I also have some questions about the blade guards, or lack thereof. The blade is very exposed on the right side of mower, was there guarding there when machine was new? Or was it designed this way to cut very thick brush? I have attached a pic to illustrate this.
Any help with information on this mower is greatly appreciated!

Totally guessing here: if you don't see any sign of broken metal doubt it had a guard on that side. Would I want to run it as it is, NO WAY. It is not just what you are asking about but it has to throw things all directions. You should be able to build a decent shroud for it to protect the operator if you are going to use it. ....

I finally found an instruction manual and parts list for the ROOF VP Mower Model VP-75.
It was actually made this way! There was never a guard on that side. Designed to get in close on fence rows. Believe it or not, it doesn't throw debris all over like it looks it might. It has a variable pitch control to allow the blade to be adjusted forward so it approaches uncut material at a downward angle. ....

Saw your post, and brought back memories.. I used to sell these machines back in the early 60s, and as a matter of fact I still have one. You must have one set up for brush cutting, they also had a mower deck that was completely enclosed and did a great job ! Yes they were open on the right side, and just laid the brush/weeds down in windrows, One mean machine ....

I only had to look at the parts list for two minutes. It was also nice to read the owners manual. I now know what is welded solid, and what is missing. I should have it running like new in a few days. Thanks very much! Jeff ....

Joining the 3 year old request for anyone that has a manual for the old Roof VP75 mower that they are willing to share again. The old links are no longer active, so here is hoping that someone that has manual can share. My "new-to-me" mower is pretty beat up, and would be nice to know what was original and what has been repaired/modified over the years. ....
