Has anyone ever seen a 47 JD hoe tear itself apart? Seems to my eye that the cross-member under the frame of the hoe that holds the two cylinders for the left/right boom movement was only tack-welded on one side. It let go and tore the other side right out of the frame. Not pretty.Looking to hear from users or mechanics that may have seen this happen before.

Mid PTO on the TC35D/TC40D tractors is controlled separately from the rear PTO. Currently, tractors CANNOT be factory-ordered with this option, it must be installed by the dealer.

Dow makes a product called Confront. Go to dowagro.com and go into turf and check it out. It DOES work, but is not cheap. About a $100-115 a gallon, but it goes a long way, it also works on 35 or so varieties of broad leaf weeds, so you can spray your whole yard with it.This will eliminate it root and all,as one of the other posts says that he does it every 3 years, I on the otherhand would only want to do it once.I have put down alot of this product with good results(that is on the woody type weeds,it is hard to beat a 2,4,d based product on broad leaf weeds, Confront has no 2,4,d)Not to mention I'm lazy. You should be OK, most tractors have a pressure relief commonly set at 2500 psi. The system would relieve, or is supposed to before you would do any damage.

Your description is accurate for the two transmissions, as far as it goes. With the 12X12 HSS and a need to shift up or down without disengaging the PTO, shift the shuttle to 'N', shift to the appropriate gear, and shift the shuttle back to F or R. No foot clutch. No interrupted PTO. There is a Mode Command switch that will modulate the shuttle engagenment, if you prefer a softer shift. This transmission will be more efficient at transmitting power to the ground than a hydro with equal engine HP.

I am not certain if I have gone up grades as steep as what you are describing. My property has hills but more gradual. I just bought a 6' 20-disc disc harrow this past weekend and used this to till up 2 acres of pasture and the 3010 pulled this with no effort at all...even up a slight hill. In addition I have a 6' bush hog that I can use cutting almost anything although thick tall grass will slow you down some but it will go through brush and saplings like they weren't even there. In high gear going up hill is tough, but I hardly ever use high gear. In low gear I would think you could climb any hill you wanted but I do recall the manual saying somthing about going up and down steep hills with your front end pointing down so as not to tip over backwards...this maybe somthing you want to look into, but I think that is universal with any tractor.

I have a Woods/Dual 3pt trencher with a hydraulic motor that turns the trencher wheels with the tractor in neutral. This moves both the trencher and tractor at the desired trencher speed. It also has a hydraulic ram that shifts the weight from the rear tractor wheels to the trencher wheels for traction. Ram can lift the tractor off the ground. Hydraulic motor speed can be set to be as slow as you want. This hydro drive trencher up can be effectively used on manual shift or hydro tractors. Chain runs off pto and cutting width is adjustable. These trenchers were original made the Dual company which I think is now owned by Woods. Maybe some body out there knows whether these units are still being made by Woods/Dual.

A 1925 is pretty similar to a TC-33. No super steer, but same horsepower. I have some literature from NH that calls it a Boomer, so I guess it was the first in the Boomer line. My 1925 runs just fine, no problems after 80 hours. You will love the hydro.

Dave: The mower rides on the back wheel and the two lower arms - adjust either to set depth of cut. I have read that it is best to have the front slightly higher. I set the top arm so that the "horseshoe" is straight up when you have the deck at the level you want it. That way you have equal give in either direction when you encounter uneven ground.

The problem with towing ANYTHING is a lack of lubrication. In the case of a tractor most of the lubrication is provided by the transmission gears 'slinging' oil around to everything else. If the engine is not running, the transmission gears are not turning, so there is no lube being circulated. Overheating and bearing failure is almost a guaranteed thing under those circumstances. As already stated, driving the tractor is probably the best solution, almost any tractor will do 16 mph. without a problem, a drive of 1/2 an hour at that speed, probably less than the hook-up, un-hook time required to tow it. Certainly less than the rebuild time should a bearing fail... Best of luck.

I'm with you on this one. My neighbor also mows his hill with FEL attached for the same reasoning. Problem I see in all of this is that the bucket weighs very little compared to the rest of the loader...which is well above the center of gravity. I think its a false security. Anything located above your rear axle is a liability in this situation.

I bought a 1992 Belarus 250AS used about 5 yrs ago. It has been a tough little
work horse for me. I use it for about the same thing as you described. A major concern will be if you can get parts and service locally. They don't have a good
resale value around here (Louisiana). They are a rough handling and riding tractor. You can't hardly stop it from dripping hydraulic and transmission oil. I would expect to pay about $2500 to $3500, depending on condition and hrs. If it has over 1000 hrs, i would pay less than that. Also with the loader, power steering would be nice. I didn't think the front end would handle a loader??? Hope this helps...Emery

I also have a 4300 with a 420 FEL, I've been experiencing the same hydraulic cycling noise and my front end loader will not maintain position if I let loose of the joystick. Looks like the fluid levels are fine..........help??

After careful reading, here is what the brochure lists.
The TC25 is rated for a New Holland 951B 72" Rotary Cutter.
Since my dealer is long distance, I'll leave it up to someone else to call a New Holland dealer and find out what a 951B is, duty rating, cutting ability.

I have test driven the JD 790 with 4WD. The clutch all the way down disengages the PTO. I guess the danger would be in an emergency when you could not operate the clutch if the PTO continues to "push" the tractor. I understand that there is an operator presence switch in the seat so probally not a problem. Am I looking at this correctly? I have never owned a tractor and interested in safety.

I don't know about the other tractors, but I used to have a B7100 Kubota and the manual said trailer gross weight of 1,000 lbs. Naturally you could pull more, but a 2 ton trailer behind a B6000 isn't something I'd really want to do. I agree with Jack.

This happened to my 1910(1986 model with only 600 hours or so).It had happened several times before but eventully popped back. I`d do as described above to the lever with the back wheels jacked up to relieve any pressure on the mechanism.
I had to take the top of the differential off (right under the seat where the 3 point lift arms rotate). Nothing was broke,it was just wedged and popped right out. The differential case was loaded with metal shaving though, which, of course, I cleaned out. You could see into the transmission and it to was loaded with shaving that I cleaned up with flushing and a magnet on an extentsion rod(bolt retriever) as best we could.The magnet was hard to guide as it stuck to every thing.
My advise is get a replacement gasket for both the top of the transmission and differential, a serious long fexible neck funnel for refilling after draining the fluid so you can get rid of all the fillings.A local Ford tractor dealer had the same thing happened to one they sold and it too was jamed with nothing really broken. Oh yes,get "oil-sorb" and big enough containers to collect the 4 gallons or so hydraulic fluid plus whatever you flush with(Diesel I assume)to avoid a big messy clean-up. It took me around 3 hours. Clean gasket surfaces scrupulosly. 50 years ago there were transmission and crankcase drain plugs that had a magnet built in.They would have been overwhelmed.When I brought the tractor used the clutch and every thing else was out of adjustment and I bet no 50 hour serice was done.
