Shelby, check to see if the transmission dipstick isn't marked for a high and low on the hydraulic fluid. I have a E2304 (Hino) and it does....also, if you don't have enough fluid the 3pt probably won't work, if too much...hum, not sure. Jerri

David, Chris may be right about the price, but I had a dealer quote me $795 for the 5' one last Fall. I used to have a Bush Hog Squealer SQ48 (4') and it was a dandy, but last Fall I traded up in size and down in quality for a 5' Howse 500 that was priced new at $495. As for which tire is best; solid or laminated; I had the solid tire on the Bush Hog and now have the laminated on the Howse. From what I've seen, the "experts" seem to think the laminated is better, but I don't know why. I've never had a problem with either one.

M Snyder,Don't feel like the Lone Ranger,I also seem to have a hard time being completely satisfied with whatever I've got.My wife does'nt understand how I have kept her around for as long as I have.I guess the grass always looks a little greener.Anyway, we own a B2710,and it's been nothing short of a great compact,it actually full fills all my needs"not thinking about trading it off" Taked to the Kubota dealer while back,he says they are coming out with a O-Turn mower one day,maybe next years model line up,might be worth the wait.

My dealer has a 4600 hydro with the new MFWD axle. He just got it in. No comparison in the way the tractor turns. Scuffing is gone.

The 3 Ton running gear shown on ssbtractor is made by Mill Creek Manufacturing (www.millcreekmfg.com). Mill Creek has a good reputation for quality. The 1 Ton and 2 Ton Wagons and Trailers you refer to in the Northern Catalog are made by Country Manufacturing (www.countrymfg.com) in Ohio. The prices in the Northern Catalog do not include shipping from Ohio. The prices listed on the Country Mfg Website do include shipping. The metal corners and sides can be removed from these if you want to do your own. From your description of your needs, it seems the Mill Creek unit might be closer to your expectations. I am unaware of other similar wagons or trailers sized for Compact Tractors.

Fortunately, I've not had to fix any flats on my own tractor yet, but I've used the "plugs" on a riding lawnmower tire a couple of times and they worked very well. I wouldn't hesitate to use them on my tractor, assuming of course, that it's a tubeless tire. A tube type will have to have the tube removed and patched.

I don't know what area you live in but if they are available I would strongly suggest White cedars (commonly known as 'Swamp' cedar), they are very inexpensive, will form a very dense hedge with a minimum of pruning, and will almost never grow to more than 30 feet even never pruned at all. Besides they initially grow very quickly, sometimes too fast, in the right conditions they will grow 2' per year. Best of luck.

From experience I can tell you that if the grass happens to get a little "shaggy" between cuts, as often happens here in the early summer, a wind tunnel design is almost a necessity. Because of the amount of air movement created by the mower it not only 'sucks' the grass upright, but also blows the cuttings out over a larger area, allowing them to dry out quickly, instead of having big 'clumps' which will leave dead spots, and or weeds behind later. Also, if you plan on using a colection system, or dethatching blades the air flow is a great help. In the fall leaf clean-up is a breeze, literally, cutting in every decreasing circles, or alternate direction rows will result in easily managed, already mulched piles of leaves. Best of luck.

Your dealer is correct about the 3pt overseeder. Having done this task about two weeks ago to our yard, I can tell you that rental places will laugh at you if your tractor is below 27-30 HP. So..our 20HP 4100 sat idle. While it did make me wonder if I bought "too small". I know a larger unit would be cumbersome and simply too large for many areas of our property. I think the bigger question here is what do I expect from the unit, and what would be "nice" to accomplish if possible. Obviously this is all dependent upon your property layout, but in our situation...even the 4100 seems big at times. Where is that happy medium in size? IMHO, the BX sounds small for you. Secondly, as time passes and your experience increases, you will attempt larger projects you didn't even consider prior to owning a Compact. Hope I'm being reasonable here and not simply expressing my struggle at the moment..

Belly mower no wider than your rear tires will allow you to get in much closer than a finishing mower off the back. I use NH 33hp Boomer 60in belly mower + 60in Acre-Ease wing mower off the left side for a 10ft cut. The wing is nice,you can get in under branches without getting wacked in the face,spin it 360' around trees and then pull one pin and drop it off to do the narrower stuff.I mow 5-6mph(flat out in 2nd-hydro)most the time.Wing cuts prettier than belly cause the tractor frt wheels aren't running over the grasss first(like those ZRT moowers with front decks). Acre ease came out tops on my search for a wing. Recommend their commercial model with heavier guage deck-you will slam it into a tree now and then.

That's good to hear that they can't keep a used Kubota on the lot. It used to be the same with JD but may not be if the new 4000 series doesn't match the quality like JD used to. I see I said GST tranny in my post,I ment HST. Thanks for your input.

My local Kubota Dealer had a Herd seeder PTO cyclone spreader attached to a BX2200 sub compact. I must say that I sure like the looks of the spreader and how it would make guick work of seed, fertilizer applications of granular materials. Only downside was this one was made of galvanized steel not so good with corrosiion.<br> I was also surprised by the apparent quality of these little BX's. They are very much the same as the B's just squished down lower on smaller tires. The axles and Motor hood are about about the same size. Even the loader except for the bucket seems very much the same caliber as the bigger B. They have taken steps to make it easier to "Quick Attach" a front blower as well not so on the Bigger B's. <br> Yet as much as I thought they were better than expected, I did feel that while the B series look like miniature Farm tractors, the BX's do look like a Garden Tractor, and I would like to see some real life feedback on people who have used both to get an understanding of the trade offs.

I bought a set of "Woods" forks for my Boomer. Dealer said they would bolt right on. They didn't. But it wasn't too hard to make them work. After getting them on, Thet were great. I'm real happy with them. Easy to use and a very handy "tool" for around the farm. Cost was around $550.00 I think. Did some trading. Pretty sure that's what he valued them at. Dusty

Yup, that's a lot of grass for a small machine unless you have nothing else to do but cut grass. Either look in the 50+ hp range with 7' to 12' mowers (finish or brush hog) or just get some livestock.
