I couldn't agree more with you more, people with some idea and a welder can make a mess of things but If a situation is studied enough and the person is comfotable enough with their ability they should try things , a mind is a terrible thing to waste. with the cost of some things you can make two things yourself for the price of one. just take your time to understand how the thing works and why others built theirs that way and go from there,alot of manufactured items,IMHO,ecspecialy short line stuff are,"universal" wich IMHO means won't fit anything realy well and can be improved on but are a good place to start.
Case in point, JD loaders are a well built design but I like the Cub's quick hitch better. A blend of the two would be perfect.

I have a 1961 Ford 801 that has been sitting too long. The clutch worked fine when parked by previous owner, but will not release now. Tractor runs like new, but starting in gear is not a good idea. Any suggestions before I tear down. Thanks in advance. Scott,in Healdsburg, California.

The blower is PTO driven and I have a ford 1320 tractor it turns the blower real good. I have spread about 4 bales with it and I believe it will do good. The guy I bought the blower from had it on a trailer but wanted too much for that so I have an old trailer that I will mount it on so I can stack about 20 bales on the back. The blower has a three point hitch but he has put a longer pto shaft so that it would reach the trailer. I will be working on this thing and try to have it mounted and working good for summer. My scaner isnt working now but maybe that will be fixed soon.

The 4100 does not have the deck height adjustment crank and lock up on the floor of the operators platform as previous model tractors such as the 755, 855, and 955 had.

Hi All. MLS good job reporting the inside contact at JD. I still feel that this
forum is the place for JD to respond directly. It is a shame that a single post needs to be brought into a board room. That is the lamest thing, and just shows how far the executives are from there products and customers. As I said before, this is a major failing. Not only of there quality system, but also of there failure analysis system, and customer satisfaction levels on a new product line.

I would hope the board can link up while right in there meeting room and review most if not all of the trouble reports off this thread. After all, the quality system they claim to have in place calls for review and disposition of every last one. They can ignor it not for ever. If I were on that board, I would insist on reporting directly with the customers without the dealers as a middle man. How many dealers are qualified in trouble shooting design problems with stering geometries and the like. I would be very concerned with miss communications from this added layer of insulation in the reporting of problems.

I also have a JD750 and experienced a similar situation with starting problems. You need to make sure all of the interlocks are working properly (manual transmission neutral safety switch and seat sensor); in particular look at the seat interlock which was problematic on my tractor. Use a continuity tester to make sure they are working reliably.

When I purchased my tractor originally it would start regularly for a week at a time and then nothing for 10-20 tries with the key. Turned out after a bit of investigation the seat interlock was bad.

Roger....I saw a section that they had cut. They used a torch. The tanks had been setting for some time with open ventilation. I'll have to ask if they flushed them with water before hand. It was indeed a cheap way to make a blade. I priced moldboards from a steel didtributor and you can pick up a 6 foot molboard 24 inches tall for $60.00. That would be money well spent without the risk of ingesting shrapnel!

Jim speaks much wisdom. Hey Jim.... Why do these guys go out and buy a 20 grand machine then ask others for the cheapest non-Kubota oil, filters. I can never figure that one out???

Mike, try clicking in the upper right corner of the main board window where it says "BRANDS". This will give you a drop down list of choices. Hinomoto is one of those choices. Good luck, Larry.

Vince, I just checked out the site that Chris suggested. It is a great place to start for prices and the options that you may want and just not know about yet. I compared the price I paid for the 4100 with turf tires, 60" belly deck, HST trans, and DSCV and they were about $1200 higher than I paid. I think I earned the $1200 by way of the one on one, no holds barred dealing I had to do to get that price.

Today was the day! I pulled the wires from the glow plugs and checked them with the ohm meter (actually a DVOM). They really are not that hard to get at once you remove the side panel and the air filter assembly. All of the plugs checked out O.K. The nut holding the wire to the center plug was not very tight. I reinstalled everything. I let the tractor cool for 5 hours in 25 deg. F and it started with little effort and came up to speed within 5 seconds. It also quit the major league smoke within 5 seconds. I suspect the center glow plug wire was not making good connection. Now if I can just get some snow to play with.

It takes a special wrench, you can make out of an old 14 mm, to unlock the lock nuts on 3 through bolts on the outside perimeter of the drive clutch pressure plate. With the locknuts released, you can use a socket to adjust the 3 bolts in or out to make the clutch engage sooner or later. Then retighten the locknuts. You can see the bolts thru the inspection plate om the right side of the tractor.
The pressure plate will turn (if out of gear) to see all 3 bolts. You'll see what I mean about the special wrench when you look inside. Cheers, Mike

To my knowledge, every fluid has potential to become a solid. Doubt freezing would have a permanant effect on its molecular make-up. As far as mixing gas and Diesel..Big no..no! It does thin the fuel, in more ways than one. First, Diesel contains Cetane, Gasoline contains Octane..Of which are on the opposite ends of the spectrum. As Cetane rise, Octane falls. Therefore, in this example, you create water'd down Diesel fuel with a higher flash point. Resulting in early/premature DETONATION, resulting in high soot & oil contamination levels from unburned Fuel. I'm not sure why, but Mario is far from the first person to hear of this...The only explaination I have is that guys in the Permafrost region may not have easy access to conditioners..hence the reason for its use.
My father in law, who on occasion uses Heating Fuel in his VW Rabbit Diesel had a problem with Diesel gel. Got in my truck to Buy a can of conditioner at the local truck stop, 1/2 to 1 hour later, all was well again. So it does appear to work rather quickly. I never had a problem here in E.PA. Of Course, other than wind chill, it rarely drops below 0 here.

I have an older kubota blower that I'm not sure wether it is a front mount or a rear mount blower. The blower is set up for a rear mount but the pto angle and the mounts for the 3pt hitch don't look like a factory job to me. The blower model is a Kubota B222. Is there a difference between a front and a rear mount blower other than the mounts? I would think that the fans would turn at different speeds if you drive a rear mount off a 540 pto and front mount off a 2000 pto. Is there a gearbox to reduce fan speed on a front mount? I would like to get the blower is up properly before the white stuff flys.

I do not want to state the obvious, but for the sake of safety, I will.

The only implements designed to use the 2 higher pto speeds on your tractor are Japanese tillers. Please do not try to use American implements with anything but the 1st speed.

I am a Case IH dealer, and have been importing Japanese tractors for years.
I have the specs on almost all of these tractors. If you need filters, email David at DPEquip@aol.com. He probably can get you a filter for your tractor.

Bill, thanks for patiently explaining the soil differences. I would now guess that tillage depth depends on local weather and type of soil. Crop management even on the tiny scale that I engage in is a complicated process. I can't imagine how much knowledge full time crop farmers must have. Best of luck with your tilling.
