Could the carburetor gasket be leaking causing extra air to be sucked into the intake? Usually those carburetors are pretty simple, it may not hurt to install a rebuild kit.

With huge disk drives it doesn't happen as frequently as it used to but it can still happen. ISPs often still place storage quotas on users and if the quota is exceeded new messages are bounced. Gmail is very generous but my own ISP gives us 5MB (which is ridiculously small by today's standards).

Can you correlate it to temperature? Does it run longer on a cool day than a hot one? On a car I once owned a faulty coil caused exactly those symptoms on a hot day and a new coil fixed it. But that was a car from the 70s and the ignition system on your Kawasaki engine may be quite different.

My first inclination on any sort of rapid intermittent behavior is that it's electrical.

I looked up info in the manual. It could be electrical or mechanical. Here's some electrical troubleshooting info from the manual (you need an ohmmeter)

Park machine safely in neutral with parking brake on first.

1. Check Rear PTO Switch
-Open the right side control panel to access rear PTO switch
-Disconnect rear PTO switch from wiring harness
-Use ohmmeter or continuity tester to test switch continuity in on and off positions
With switch OFF there should be continuity between terminals A&C, D&F, G&H, and nowhere else.
With switch ON there should be continuity between A&B, D&E and nowhere else.

2. Check rear PTO solenoid
-Access the solenoids on the right side of machine under floorboard. They look like two round solenoids wired into one connector.
-Disconnect the solenoid connector from wiring harness. As you look at the end of the connector there are four pins, call them A,B,C and D from left to right with notched end of connector on top.
-Use ohmmeter to measure resistance between terminals A&B (rear PTO solenoid). It should be between 10.5-11.5 ohms. C&D should also be the same measurement (that's the MFWD solenoid).
-Check for grounds or shorts by testing between each pin and the bare metal of the solenoid case.

If those tests don't pan out the news sounds bad. The PTO mechanical trouble shooting table for "Rear PTO Will Not Engage" gives four reasons for rear PTO not engaging, none of them good. PTO clutch damaged or worn, Cogs on gear shift or shift collar damaged or worn, Gears and/or bearings worn, or oil pressure not sufficient to PTO clutch.

I don't know that tractor but two things that are generally common to all gauges except the ammeter are voltage and ground.<br>

Thinking out loud, and assuming negative ground system, use a meter to measure resistance from the - side of a gauge to ground. If it measures 0 ohms then voltage may not be getting to the gauges. If it measures infinite or very high resistance then there is probably a ground problem.<br>

If by shocks you mean the hydraulic cylinders they really can't be overextended (if they could then fluid would be sprayed out everywhere).

If you push your loader joystick forward all the way to where it stops, then push it just a tiny bit more it should click into a "float" detent that stops bucket down pressure and lets it follow the terrain. Is this the flop you describe? Pulling the joystick back should pull it out of float position. Maybe yours is stuck in the detent position internally?

While trimming trees along the driveway today with a Stihl 192 chainsaw I began to think of all the good tips I've picked up from Tractorpoint. Chief told me about that chainsaw here and it may well be the single best tool I've ever bought. Light, reliable and absolutely perfect for pruning doug firs. <br>

Then there's the Bad River 3-point hitch to 2" receiver adapter that is indispensable. Learned about that one here too.<br>

And since I still have all appendages the safety tips have helped too. The advice on setting up the tractor for hillside stability have been life savers.<br>

Just thinking out loud here since I have never seen one of those belt drives....

A friction belt drive seems like it's a poor design for use in water. Would it be possible to either replace it with a toothed belt or a hefty and well greased chain drive?

I had worse luck with my Ford Ranger, but that doesn't make either of us feel very good. Make the dealer get to the bottom of the problem and give you a 12 month warranty on the repair - they should do that as a matter of course. Maybe the axle is bent a bit and wobbles, or the bearing is bad, causing the seals to die an early death. They need to diagnose and not just swap parts.

I don't know NH tractors, but here goes.

There should always be 13+ volts between the big terminal on the starter solenoid and ground. Measure with voltmeter set to DC volts, positive lead on big solenoid terminal and negative lead on chassis ground.

The small terminal probably goes to the ignition switch. When cranking it closes the solenoid circuit that completes the starter circuit. To measure this I'd guess you'd place the meter in the resistance/ohms setting and put one lead on the small terminal and the other on chassis ground (polarity doesn't matter). When the key is in the crank position the meter should read close to zero ohms, when the key is in the off/run position the reading should be close to infinite resistance (open circuit).
