I spoke to the mechanic at the Kubota dealer and he suggested not to put the slime in the tire. He thought it was bad for the rubber to keep that slime in there indefinitely. He also said he's never seen a front tire from a tractor the size of B7800 get a hole from a thorn. I listened to the guy and decided not to add the slime. I then attacked my 4' high brush and weeds with abandon and report no problems. Most of the weeds never saw the tires or the mower anyway as I razed them with the loader.

If you think about it, all cultivated varieties of plants and animals have been genetically engineered through selective breeding. It's just that selective breeding takes longer than direct recombinant DNA manipulation. The end effect is the same - if the grape tastes good - eat it!

without exagerating, this is the best "no-spin" tractor resource on the web. If money became a real problem, I'm sure the current pool of premium members wouldn't mind if their "dues" went up a bit (whatever would be needed to cover the $$ shortage).

I have a belgian sheepdog - she's nowhere as big as your dog (90lb?), but she's real nasty - bit my grandmother once. Her favorite hobby is chasing down the bicyclers on our street - I'm not sure whether they enjoy the challenge, but they sure do pick up the speed then they see her bearing up on them..

some straw will have seeds though; Many a times my wife spread straw around the barn dirt floor to tidy it up a bit only to have a good deal of grass come up from under that straw! I have sky lights in the barn and some areas are a bit wet from ground water so the whole thing turns into a greenhouse..

There is a huge auto auction in my township just down the road - I imagine that lots of shady characters visit the place trying to make a quick buck (along with honest car dealers, too, I'm sure), so I wouldn't be surprised if people would scout the area for easy pickings and since neither of us are home during work, my tractor could end up on a flat bed going to some unsuspecting farmer in PA or VA, so replacement insurance would be nice. But maybe I'm just being paranoid.

For those of us who are mechanically challenged, a good mechanic is just as good as a good dealer. It took 5 trips to my JD dealership to fix a simple problem with my lawn tractor. So IMHO, for comparable products, service considerations should be the top priority.

I had no idea I'd need it if I added a backhoe later on. $100 is definitely worth it. I was thinking it would come in handy when I'd need to clean out the manure from the overhang shed. Now it's a wheel barrow job and a pain in the ass.

I replaced both tires on my big wheel barrow with solid polyurethane tires and love 'em. It's a little more bouncy now, but not having to worry about air is worth it.

The problem (in addition to my ignorance) is that Kubota.com spec sheets are not standardized for all the models. So they give you tread width in one spec sheet and overall width in another. So I'm not sure what I'm comparing.
