My TZ24 (60" MMM, FEL, box scraper, rear snowblower) arrived last Monday and I've read the manuals cover-to-cover. There's not much about the 3-point set-up that a "newbie" should know. The dealer expalined most of the features but nothing in depth.
I need to learn the basics for setting up the 3-point for different implements, especially the top link. I also found a short piece of chain with snaps at each end in the tool box which I think he said was used to connect the turnbuckles that limit the side-swing of the bottom links. I've already noticed that the top link socket bottoms out on the box scraper and I want to avoid any real damage.
What about lubrication - pins, balls, etc? I know I can count on TP members!

Sounds like your dealer didn't even put the hitch on the tractor??
There should be any number of pictures or drawings in your owners manual the will illustrate how and where all the parts attach. ....

The tractor was delivered with the hitch installed and there are some pictures in the manual. If it's that simple then I must be making a mountain out of a mole hill. My questions pertain more to set-up and adjustments for any of the implements that are attached. Is there a rule-of-thumb or general guideline about the length of the top link, etc.
On a previous post, I was curious about hydraulic top links and some the replies cautioned about the limited length needed for this tractor series. If there's another thread on this message forum that deals with the subject, I'd be happy to browse through it. ....

I would suggest you browse through the implement forum and click on an attachment you are curious about. The set up of the 3pt is ususally brought up, and discussed. The 3pt set up, uaually the top link length, is only part of the process of getting to know an attachment. You will get a lot of other useful information in these forums. ....

OK. I think I get the question.
The answer is trial and error. Each implement has a level or a blade angle that is ideal and you won't know that until you "put it in play".
As far as lubrication on the three point balls just make sure they are moving freely..... there is not a lot of motion or potential for wear there.
Sounds like your top link is too long for your box scraper.
I had that problem with my BX and others have experienced the same thing with other sub-cuts. There are three ways to address the problem:
1) Relocate the holes on the implement, easily done by the manufacturer but pretty tough for a home owner. My dealer takes this approach when ordering implements.
2) Shorten the top link by cutting and re-welding. I took this approach.
3) And probably the easiest and most cost effective: buy a set of Easy Change lower arm extensions. They look like they will work for most uses as long as you are not doing a lot of radical side to side tilting with your box scraper. ....

I would like to know how your tractor handles the box blade. I tried out a 5 foot box blade on my TZ24 but did not have the teeth and therefore could not dig. I had no problem grading loose dirt, didn't even need 4 wheel drive.
Please advise after you've had a chance to use it. Dave ....

DRankin, thanks for the input. I tend to agree that the top link is a bit too long and it's probably because the end attached to the tractor has about an inch of thread showing and were painted, which prevents the turnbuckle from turning. I assume I should be able to turn it until the threads (or most of them) are not visible.
Dave, my box blade is 48" with 4 scarifiers, front and rear blades. I've been able to loosen turf even when the scarifiers are set to their deepest setting until I hit a large stone. It'll probably take quite a while to get proficient at using it but I think it'll come with practice. Unfortunately, while moving some top soil on the weekend with the FEL I forgot to totally close the flow rate valve and box blade gradually dropped enough for one of the scarifiers to clip a hidden rock near the surface. It ripped the point off the scarifier!
So far, I really amazed at what this little beast can do. ....

Starting to love my dealer. I am curious about if you purchased the attachment at the same time as the TZ24A? I went all out and got the FEL, 60mm, and front snow blower. The Boomer arrived all set and adjusted to use the FEL and the mm, while the SB was on order , still Fall anyway. In the interim I ordered a Woods tiller. My dealer used another TZ on his lot to adjust the tiller shaft and offset before I picked it up. SB is in and he is coming Friday to get mine to mount and adjust everything for use. Didn’t your guy mount any of the 2 3pt attachments for you? ....

No, he didn't mount the box scraper or snow blower. I figured out how to attach them but I wasn't too sure about final adjustments. The snowblower was delivered 5 days after the tractor but it was set-up while the dealer had the tractor at his dealership. It was delivered to them with a manual crank for chute rotation and I had ordered a hydraulic set-up with the extra rear-mounted valve & control. I plan to mount the snowblower this weekend and make sure everything is working before our first snowfall.
I'm gradually learning more from the dealer and members of this forum. Thanks everyone for your input and suggestions!
BTW, the dealer has been great, which is the most important aspect of owning a CUT, or anything new. ....
