I am not the least bit worried but thought I would blow this buy some of you anyway. After using the fel to dig a small ditch line (and by the way, was very impressed with the power and that the bucket had NO dings or dents in it after digging thru some serious rocks 1-2' dia.) I notice a kinda whinning when I start lifting the fel. It only lasts for about a 1/2 second but it definatily was not there when I started. Could this be just the need for some grease? I greased her before I started. The noise is so small I probably would never of noticed it if It was not new. Thw whinning could be more like a long sqeek but only last for 1/2 sec. when starting to lift the fel?
Any ideas? shouldn't worry about it? will probably get more little noises as hours build? All in all though I can't believe how easy this was! To think I have been doing this kinda stuff by hand for the last 30 years (I am 39) No wonder my back is so sore!!!!!! Now about the only thing ya worry about is gaining wieght!

I suspect the noise you heard was the relief valve.

If you have ever studied physics, or the technical spec.'s for a B/H or FEL for that matter it is clear that the amount of force required to break up virgin soil is far greater than the amount of force required to just klift that amount of dirt.

Best of luck. ....

broken,
Does it do it all the time now, even with the bucket empty? Hot, cold make any difference?

I doubt the relief valve is making noise if it does it empty as that usually only kicks in under load.

Maybe a small rock lodged in around one of the pivot points somewhere?

Keep us posted,
Tim ....

Yes even when empty. I wish I would of paid more attention to what it sounded like now. Maybe a slight hissing noise, just when I start to lift and only for 1/2 second. Will be using it again in 1 1/2 weeks so I will do some investigating then. Yes it could be something lodged like a rock, there are plenty of them there! LOL ....
