I purchased a used TC35D I think it is a 2001. Did not notice until days later it has a trans fluid leak where the front of the tractor bolts to the rear. This appears to possibly be an expensive repair, requiring alot of stuff to be removed before the tractor can be seperated and a new seal put in????
Can anyone provide advice or had any experience with this??
It appears someone tried to repair before since it appears there is two different colors of liquid gasket in the joint.
Thanks

No experience splitting tractors but I think it's not too bad a job for an owner with some experience, equipment and manuals. The labour isn't too bad if done by a dealer.

I think that on many tractors the problem likely is a seal on one of the TX shafts. I'm not sure the joints between the cases are intended to seal oil. If that's the case, it'd be variable how much labour it takes to tear down enough of the TX to replace shaft seals. It could be expensive and if the leak isn't too bad, checking the case bolt torque and topping up the oil may be preferable to a repair. I'd be aware that the bolts may be over-torqued since it seems a previous owner tried to fix it and then resorted to applying sealant to the joint externally (I don't think that ever does much good). I wonder if the tractor ever mounted a 3ph backhoe? ....

Thanks for the insight, I'll probably let a shop look at it prior to diving in myself.
